Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

GermanyBefore our arrival, there was no communication from the manager, which left us a bit unsure. We missed the last ferry and ended up missing our first night, so I tried calling, messaging on WhatsApp, and reaching out through Booking.com – just to let them know we were still coming and to make sure our room wouldn’t be given away. I never got a response. Even a simple “OK” would’ve helped. Thankfully, they did hold our room and everything worked out in the end.
Staying at Lonely Beach was like stepping back in time—exactly how I imagine traveling through Asian countries must have felt before tourism really took off. It was a bit of an adventure just getting there. :) But that's how we like it. :) The accommodation is very basic—bucket showers and a few little “creepy” visitors included—but that’s all part of the charm of staying close to the jungle. We booked a cottage with a private bathroom, and it was totally fine. There’s no fan, but if you leave the windows open wide, the fresh sea breeze keeps the room surprisingly cool and comfortable during nights. We honestly wished we had booked more than two nights. Because what you get in return is absolutely worth it: untouched nature, total peace, and the feeling of having your own private beach. No crowds, no cars, no boatloads of tourists. Just you, the palm trees, and the sound of the waves, and cute little dogs everywhere. One more thing. You’ll experience some of the best sunsets ever, which makes it hard to leave the beach before it gets dark. At night, the glowing bioluminescent plankton was pure magic. I highly recommend jumping in after dark to see it sparkle around you—an unforgettable experience. To get there, you either rent a motorbike or take a tuk-tuk (around $15) to the last village, Preaek Svay. The road follows a river and ends at a wooden bridge (not possible to cross with a car or tuk-tuk, only a motorbike)—otherwise, from there, It’s about a 30-minute walk, partly through the jungle and partly under the direct sun. That little extra effort might scare some people off… But for those of us who love doing things the hard (and rewarding) way, it’s perfect.

We really loved our stay at lonely beach. It’s a great way to flee from the big city life. The owner is really welcoming and friendly and made our stay incredible. Some of the bungalows are located directly in the jungle. It’s definitely a nice opportunity for people who want to experience the slow life in the bushes. An eco friendly way of living while enjoying beautiful beaches/ coralls at the same time:)

PolandI had a wonderful time at Lonely Beach. The bungalows were rather basic, but I really appreciated the DIY aspect of everything—even the gym! Beautiful location in the jungle by the beach, with a coral reef nearby for snorkeling. A perfect place to connect with nature.

SingaporeLocation. The beach was perfect, palm fringed, clean, undeveloped. The palm trees created lots of natural coves which gave privacy. Lots of hammocks and clear, flat water. Excellent cocktails and food.

GermanyAffordable, simple beach huts in an exposed location! The beach is clean, and the water is extremely clear. Facilities are very basic, appropriate for the price. The entire property could be tidier.

AustraliaIt is a bit of an adventure to get there, travel light on the scooter. Also the host prefers for guest to leave their scooters at a parking spot 5/10 min walk from the stay. The food could be improved for the price.

Don't even think about skipping this place while you're on Koh Rong, this is a must for everybody visiting the island. We stayed in the cheapest bungalow and it was super comfy, shared bathrooms were amazing, the food in the restaurant was great, and the beach itself was divine. There is great snorkeling at the end of the beach and plankton is everywhere during the night. There's also a little gym and a slackline for those who like. The staff is super friendly as well as the owner. Thank you for everything!

BelgiumThe location is amazing. You are staying in a little bungalow hut, with the sea nearby. Its perfect for relaxing in a basic environment. The whole place runs on solar electricity. Showers are with a cold bucket of water, and the bungalows can get hot during the night as there is no airco. I stayed for a few nights and came back absolutely super relaxed, exactly what I needed. The food is maybe a little bit more pricy than I would have expected, but the quality is superb and there are a lot of veggie/vegan choices. The main meals are pretty big, I often shared one with two people.

Germany- tricky to access - road in the end was very bumpy - I would probably sent someone 2-3x per day along the beach to collect plastic waste. Quite a few plastic visible.

Everything was great—the location is secluded, the beach is clean and not too crowded, and Danny is an excellent host who takes great care of his guests. The food and drinks are also top-notch. Since other food options are a bit farther away, the quality of the food was especially important, and it did not disappoint—it was amazing. It's a perfect place to get away from the hustle and bustle. Additionally, if you enjoy walking, you can explore other beaches, bars, and discover many other beautiful spots.
