How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

Verified reviewPetra was a fantastic host. We stayed at her place for around a week to study at RULE, a nearby university. She prepared a nice breakfast for us each morning, which made staying there super convenient. We especially appreciated that she bought us vegemite to have on our toast! (a much welcome comfort for us as Aussie travellers) It was great to know that coming home each evening we'd be greeted by a friendly face. Petra was also easy to contact when we had any questions, and she provided insights about Phnom Penh that enriched our stay.

Nothing. It was really nice!

Verified review- Excellent host. Communication is outstanding. - Breakfast includes toast with options to put peanut butter, jam, or a Nutella-like spread. Eggs. Granola and nuts for cereal with cow milk or yogurt. Much better than cheap, nutrition-deficient Corn Flakes! - Service-oriented place!
Two-thirds of the world is lactose intolerant (and up to 100% of East Asians are), so it would be great if they had a soy milk option.

Verified reviewThe host Petra is so nice. She’s very interactive with her guests. She welcomes them like a family. We arrived very early in the morning and we cannot find the place but she came out and asked me if I was her guest. She let us in and left our bags for our morning tour.

Verified reviewPetra is the best! Made us feel so at home and looked after us so well. We loved our breakfast in the morning and if she wasn’t serving other people she joined us for a chat over a cuppa, she had great advice for restaurants and was happy to answer any questions we had. We didn’t have a free drink on arrival so we had it on our last night, where we sat and had a drink with her and great conversation which was very much appreciated! The room was exactly what we needed, the location was great near lots of nice restaurants, we also went to the Phnom Climbing gym nearby.

Verified reviewMost importantly the room was clean and comfortable. As a cherry on top, the host made the stay special by being exceptionally helpful and welcoming. Also the b&b employed an english speaking local driver who was very helpful with his local insight and overall a great guy.

I slept so well and forgot about the chaos of the city. I'll be back soon. Thank you! Best bits: - location is great, near my favorite neighborhood for coffee and food - room was clean and bed was very comfy, great value for the quality - quiet and calm - breakfast was great and coffee was good! Simple but tasty - Petra really goes above and beyond to make you feel at home.
I liked it all :) truly great value for the price you pay and a real break from the city despite being so central.

Parts of the room particularly the bathroom were in a poor state. With a little TLC it could be much more.

Verified reviewThis was our second stay at Dutch House - we stayed when we first came to Cambodia, and then again 3 1/2 weeks later. It felt like we were coming home! Petra and Mr Tom Tom greeted us like old friends and made us feel at home. Location is relatively quiet yet with markets and restaurants within a couple of blocks.
it was perfect.

Verified reviewPetra was a wonderful host, after traveling for months it is nice to encounter someone like her! You can tell she really puts a lot of love in this place. Breakfast was great, the bread was so yummy and also all the spreads (western style). The location is not the closest to the city center but it’s still in a busy street with many things to do (buy a SIM card, eat something, a gym…). We mostly took tuk tuks from there though. AC and all the basics were there so overall good price value! We also had a small fridge.
- no lift - shower runs in the whole bathroom (used to it by now but still a bit of a mess always)
