How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

Verified reviewI loved how spacious and spotless the bungalow was. The location couldn’t be better, tucked away in a quiet corner of the beach so you get peace and privacy, yet very close to the village where you can find all you need. The owners are kind and welcoming. Warm, laid-back vibe that made it easy to relax.
Honestly, nothing at all. Met my expectations!

Verified reviewIt's nice to be able to tumble out of bed, walk just a few short steps, and arrive on the beachfront. I appreciated the greenery, and listening to the songbirds in the trees. I enjoyed the wooden decor vibes of the rooms. Matty, the front desk clerk, is just the sweetest.
There's a sewage swamp running through the facility. In the room, the wall fan above the bed is barely adequate to cool you down, and if you leave the window open to get ventilation, your room fills with myriad mosquitoes. Any time I went to the bathroom meant getting bitten. Sitting outside means also being constantly pestered by mosquitoes. Additionally, there is no WiFi at the property.

Verified reviewEverybody was awesome, the staff give good restaurant recommandation, organise activities, boat tours, Gavin at the reception gave me a little heads up via booking before I arrived for the boat company I had to take to reach Mpai bay without extra costs (buva sea or gtvc). The place is clean, gorgeous and everybody is so helpful and great. I loved my stay there so much I extended 4 more nights. It's also a good place to work if you have some work to be done, it's very chill and quiet during the day.
No wifi but you can easily go nextdoor and ask for their. It doesn't reach the rooms though.

Verified reviewThe view is stunning from the porch just relaxing and looking out onto the beautiful beach. That was my favourite part of the trip. The coconuts were also the best I have ever tasted. Suzi and Miles were also so kind and helpful with great tips for the island. We would definitely return!
The bathroom and room could have been a bit cleaner.

Verified reviewThe location was right on the beach. A quick walk from any amenity one may need. The staff was extremely kind and helpful, and most importantly, it was a 10 minute walk from the pristine bioluminescent plankton beach, which is paradise both during the day and at night. A true hidden gem in paradise.
No negatives about the property, just ensure you have plenty of bug repellant!

Verified reviewAmazing beachfront location within a small island village. Basic accommodation but great value for the price and our hut had all the main amenities. Lots of reasonably priced restaurants and bars on the beach and in the main village a few minutes walk from CocoHuts. Very welcoming staff who had extensive local knowledge.
We had nothing to complain about.

Verified reviewThe location.
Wasn’t told it is a 100 metre walk across a sandy beach (with trolley luggage) from the road. Needlessly officious, dogmatic management.

Verified reviewStayed in the huts . This island is special. That's why we are looking for accom. Suzi is over nice and helpful. After staggering off the boat a cold beer was awaiting. A great team with her too. A true jungle island experience! for sure. You will forget the day you are on early on. But it has to be remembered you are on a jungle island ..... prepare for that. I did and stayed much longer. The village of M'pai is a delight. It is the sole reason why you should stay there and no where else. Beach , Sea - a whole inch away from the front of place. Suzi and team i will return after Xmas in UK.
hrmmmm what don't humans like on a jungle island . Get there and find out. Travel is about the experience and not shielding yourself from the environment so much.
Hey Jules It was a pleasure to have a seasoned traveller stay here 😉 Thanks for embracing our environment as it is….& your honest review. Great! See you next Christmas 🎄😎🏝️🥥

Verified reviewGreat location and pretty setting. Friendly and helpful staff. The hut was nice and big.
The hut was quite dark and hot. The mosquito net had a big hole in it. The wi fi didn’t work when we were in the hut (Reception wi fi was good). The hut needs refurbishing. There was loud noise from the bar next door (disco) until 11.45 on Wednesday night.
