Very nice and comfortable room. Funny Owner. Very relaxed Location, with good bars and restaurants in the vicinity.

Amazing hostel! Crazy deck leading to the ocean, and you can hear the waves as you sleep. Sok San is a small village and the beach is gorgeous

Amazing location, amazing facilities, so peaceful and relaxing

They shut off the A/C at 8 am and it gets incredibly hot and impossible to sleep

Don’t recommend staying here if you don’t ride a motorbike as it is quite isolated and expensive to go to and from the main areas by tuktuk/taxi. (However if you are happy just staying put and relaxing then you would be fine)

- The view from the hostel dorm is insane! I woke up every morning to the sound of the waves and would sit on the deck and read my kindle (heaven) - Comfy large beds with curtains/plug sockets/lights/fans - The hostel owner Christophe is very lovely and makes you feel very welcome! The lady who does the cleaning/check-in/shop keeping is also very friendly :) - Nice big lockers under the beds to fit your bags and locks are provided! - The place is kept very clean at all times - You can rent great scooters from here at $10 a day including fuel (although this is not 24 hours like some other places, it is just for the day) - Christophe taught me how to drive a scooter and I did so successfully after 5 months of travelling without one!

- Occasional power cuts but this is across the whole island - Location is nice and peaceful but there isn’t lots to do around the area so I would recommend getting a scooter to see the island - There isn’t any service in the area either so you can use the WiFi at the hostel but as soon as you leave you have nothing

I stayed at Akounamatata for 4 nights during a few months travelling Southeast Asia. I wanted to relax so I chose this location which seemed to be quieter than the south of the island. I was the best decision ! I loved this hostel :) The location was close to one of the most beautiful beach of the island. There is only one dorm which made it very easy to meet other solo travellers. I have made some very good friends and Christophe, the host, is always up for a chat and gives excellent recommendations. I would 10000% recommend this place if you are looking for some peace and quiet and make some friends !

Only the shower could have been a bit cleaner (a lot of hair)

There’s a single dorm with a plenty of space that creates a unique opportunity to meet other travelers. Location was perfect, a bit a way of the island center but my goal was to be in a quite and pristine beach, and that’s what you get.

Facilities are ok. There wasn’t a comfy place to chill besides our room (terrace pretty small but they are building a bigger one), but the idea is to be outside to I believe is ok.

Cleanliness. Owner peronally supervised everything, and was also cleaning many times himself. Christophe is an amazing host and was always extremely helpful with advice for the guests.

No complaints at all. Everything was fantastic. This is a hidden gem, which ticked all the boxes for me.

Everything. The hostel is clean, the view is beautiful, the beds are comfortable. Hands down - one of the best Hostels I ever stayed in all of Asia. The owner is the nicest guy and gives the best recommendations and gives you the best vibes. You truly are in paradise!

Nothing, I barely say it, but everything was perfect.

Comfortable bed and nice spacious room away from the busy part of the island.

Few areas for improvement. My main issue was there was a camera in the room pointing toward my bed. This was brought to my attention during the second day of my stay by another guest. This is an unusual addition and not something I have seen in other dorm rooms. I assume it has been added for safety reasons but I think guests should be informed about it prior to or at the start of their stay as I was very uncomfortable afterward knowing that I had been walking around the room in my towel and underwear earlier in the day when the room was empty as it was very hot as air con is turned off during the day. I would have been more careful had I known there was surveillance. There is no shower gel or soap in the bathroom which I think is a basic inclusion for most hostel which meant some guests did not wash their hands after using the toilet and would touch the bedroom door handle.

It was clean

Mattress has plastic on so very loud to sleep on and uncomfortable. No aircon and very hot when the power goes off which is very often. No social space. The towel was useless, would have been better to not provide one. Unhelpful staff. Owner roamed free in dorm room and as a female this made me very uncomfortable. The room has no door and didn’t lock so anyone could walk in and out.

This is my favorite stay this far <3 Super comfy clean beds and the most beautiful bedroom view… So peaceful I absolutely loved it. Staff was the best :) Thank you so much Christophe you made me feel really welcomed and you are an amazing person, thank you so much :)

By the water and the relaxing sound of the crashing waves. Not a party place, so very good if you want some real peace. Nice French owner.

Guests smoking at the deck by the water and the dorm door is not close, so basically the entire dorm smell like smoke whenever someone smokes.

It was really calm, the view was stunning and Christoph is really good host, he’s so helpful, funny and easygoing

There is no soap, you don’t get a new towel (only if you ask), but that didn’t bother us that much, as we know it’s a hostel and for that price you can’t complain. The toilets were smelly as well, but that’s part of Asia..

Dorm is clean and spacious. Bed are large singles/three quarter beds. View is beautiful and it’s amazing to fall asleep to the ocean waves. Christoff, the host is a great guy who is very helpful.

No communal areas The beach is not the best one on the island
