How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

Verified reviewThis hostel was great and we loved staying here! We got a private room and it was the perfect spot to recover from jet lag. The owner is really nice and let us rest in one of the dorm rooms until our room was ready as we got there really early from an overnight flight. The whole place is really clean, it has a well stocked kitchen, and great air con too which is essential in the summer. It’s also just across the road from a supermarket and close to some good food places. It’s about a 20 min walk to the centre, but you can easily grab a Yandex or a scooter for only a couple of dollars.
Nothing!

Verified reviewVery nice hostel with very friendly staff! We arrived at 6am and could immediately enter and access our room, which was great! When we needed a cooler for our travels, the staff helped us very quickly and smoothly. Finally, the hostel is overall very clean and on a nice location to discover Bishkek. Would recommend!

Verified reviewKhamza was a lovely host, great English and always happy to answer questions. There was a 24hr supermarket and good restaurants nearby. We didn't explore the surrounding area much but it was quick and very affordable by Western standards to call a Yandex. I slept very well, the beds were comfortable and the room not too hot. The design was simple and minimal but totally fine for this price range. Most importantly, everything was exceptionally clean. There was not too much noise from the other guests and a convenient kitchen. We booked private rooms

Verified reviewWe liked Zam Zam Hostel so much that we came back for one more night before heading back to Almaty. Once again, Hamza saved the day this time helping us book our bus last minute. The hostel is clean, quiet, and well-located, with a 24/7 market right across the street and great food options nearby. It’s a chill, no-frills place that feels welcoming and organized. Highly recommend for backpackers or anyone looking for a reliable stay in Bishkek!
Perfect

Verified reviewAbsolutely loved our stay at Zam Zam Hostel! We arrived in Bishkek with zero plans, and Hamza completely saved us , he helped plan our entire trip around Kyrgyzstan and gave us great local advice we wouldn’t have found online. The hostel itself is super clean, quiet, and feels very new. It’s in a great location with a 24/7 market right across the street and plenty of affordable local food nearby. You can easily walk to downtown and major sights like Ala-Too Square. The atmosphere is chill and welcoming, perfect for travelers looking for a good night’s rest without the party vibe. Definitely recommend it as a base in Bishkek and huge thanks again to Hamza for being such a kind and knowledgeable host!

Verified reviewVery friendly and informed receptionist. He always greeted me with a smile and helped wherever he could. Exceptionally clean for a hostel. Simple but functional private room with airconditioning (you will want that in Bishkek's spring & summer). Working wi-fi. Communal kitchen. Location at short walk from downtown area and all attractions. Also next to bus stops to go to the border or bus station (20 som). Supermarket across the street, eateries nearby.
Only thing I can think of is that it's a bit loud if people talk in the corridor. No towels in room or kitchen & bathroom & toilet to dry your hands after washing. And only 1 roll of toilet paper every day, which is finished by noon. Could put some extra. Otherwise, all good & recommended.

Verified reviewI was in Bishkek for only one night. I had one separate bedroom. Toilets and bathroom were shared. The hostel is confortable, clean and well located, with a great offer of restaurants and easy access to two bus stations (east and new bus station). The personnel was really kind and welcoming. Overall it's a good value for money and I would recommend it without reserve !
Nothing.

Verified reviewTo begin with the check in process & welcome I got was great. Beds are comfortable, showers & toilets are clean with good water pressure. Kitchen & dining area are clean & spacious. It's only a short walk (15 mins) to the centre of town, shops, parks & the city sights. The hostel looks pretty new, with new carpeted flooring & furniture. Close to supermarket & a few local cafes. Good size lockers with key & your own bedside table with power point. Free tea & coffee available.
The kitchen could use a few more utensils eg. forks, cutlery, pots etc No common/outdoor area to chill & chat to other guests except for the dining area.
