Great location, wonderful staff, beautiful beach that is easily accessible at edge of property. Air-conditioning in room was ideal-very pleasant and wifi was strong enough to work remotely with no issue. Try Stanley's lime marmalade!

I absolutely love this place. The beautiful gardens and chill areas make it really unique and still maintaining a bit of the wildness of the jungle. The sunbeds overlooking the beach are just so comfy with stunning views. Hired the electric bikes available in the accommodation a few times, highly recommend. I originally booked for 4 nights but extended for another 6 nights because it was so good.

The kitchen staff, whilst friendly are beyond slow. It's a bit like Fawlty Towers. Any more than 2 people in the restaurant and they are in full meltdown. Minimum 1 hour wait for the food, even if it is just a sandwich or salad. I once ordered tea with my lunch and they said the tea (in the flask) had finished. A kindly requested they boil the kettle and put a T bag in a cup! The chef came round one morning and told us that poached eggs were not available because of some issue with the poaching pot. I asked him just to boil some water in a pan and put the eggs in until they were poached. He did it, but wasn't happy. Its a shame the kitchen service let's the place down because the accommodation is wonderful.

Thanks for the detailed review. For sure our Snack Bar needs attention and we are busy with a whole upgrading project in this area.

I stayed in Laser Cottage and I loved how cozy it was, with a very nice outdoor seating area. The breakfast was delicious, fresh, and filling. The location on the beach is amazing. The property has beautiful landscaping with lots of trees and plants. The staff were very helpful, welcoming, and kind.

The shared kitchen was not very well equipped with pots, pans, knives and kitchen tools. I was able to borrow what I needed from the main kitchen which was helpful.

The staff were lovely, friendly and very helpful. In particular we want to thank Benjamin for making us feel very welcome and dealing with any issues quickly and with a smile on his face, always making sure we were happy and comfortable. Alice, Mapenzi & Stanley who were so lovely and worked hard to make us a lovely breakfast each morning. They were very accommodating to our needs, including making us gluten-free pancakes and nice, strong coffee every morning. The grounds were so peaceful and beautiful with lots of plants and trees around. The view points where we could sit and relax while having a nice view of the beach & sea were magical and beautifully breezy. It was also great to be able to play table tennis near the snack bar and darts in the beautiful terrace above our cottage. The room was very comfortable with a nice firm bed, hot water and good air conditioning.

We thought we would be getting a private kitchen as the write up on Booking.com seemed to indicate this. We were a little disappointed with this aspect when we arrived but Benjamin was very helpful in rectifying things where possible. It didn't have a significant impact on our stay and we would love to return in future as it was such a beautiful place.

Thanks for the review. This listing has a fully equipped shared kitchen as described in the amenities. Their are 4 units in this category, and many of them don’t want to prepare their own meals and eat at our Snack Bar….

    Beautiful beach, nice cottages.

A bit further away from the town, but it’s easy to go there on motorbike taxis.

The property is located by beach, in the middle of nature and place is quiet. Breakfast is very taste, have to choose from the menu, only we were not informed that we had to choose up to 1500 ksh/pers. and haven`t possibility make some changes... Very nice beach, especially for kiting.

It would be better if the price of water was a little more affordable - the store is far away, but a bottle of water is more than 4 times more expensive than in the store and it isn`t 5 star hotel. The price for budget room was too big... If there are a lot of kites in the sea, then it is dangerous for people who just want to swim.

    Property response:

We do have water stations where you can refill your water bottles free of charge. The size bottle we offer at the bar is 3x the normal size in shops, hence the price difference.

This accommodation got extremely mix feelings for 4 of us - the outside space is really nice, close to the great beach, nice and tidy.

BUT the restaurant and the personal is the downside of the whole experience. You wait soooooo long for everything and you always get those annoyed faces from the stuff. Not even happy if you give them a tip. In addition, there is no reception, you basically need to handle everything with the restaurant stuff... Regarding the rooms, we booked budget rooms as villas were already taken. Rooms are clean, no bugs, rats (villas have rats) BUT the bathroom is a disaster (you basically take a shower on the toilet with icy or boiling water). Moreover, room 3 is extremely noisy during the night and in the morning! Better ask for room 4. Next time we would definitely choose another hotel.

    Property response:

Firstly our villas do not have rats and since this guest actually stayed in our extremely competitive Clubrooms it is an unsubstantiated comment. Our tariff also includes a Full Breakfast. Furthermore we are not trying to be a luxury hotel - we are a family run guest house. Lastly our staff normally get fantastic reviews so we will investigate what happened here. We offer the best value for money but if you want luxury stays there are many other options at 5x the price in Watamu.
