Read more– opens a dialog boxEach review score is between 1 and 10. To get the overall score you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of them. We use a weighted review system, which means the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. Guests can also give separate “subscores” in crucial areas like location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, or the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties, and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options might be available (by type of traveler, by score, etc...).

United StatesThe location - the hotel is out of the way in Kyoto and also right next to a train track which is tragic. The gap between the ceiling and the walls makes the rooms less sound proof and a happy place for bugs.
Loved the modern meets traditional construction of the house! The host left us a gift of teas and all of our amenities were available to us. The use of space was impressive as well. The space itself was clean and the futons we slept on were very cozy. The AC also works well.

JapanOverall is very nice house, one point of note is that the house is near the Arashiyama tram (Randen) instead of the subway, so the main way of travel will be either bus or a 10 minutes walk to the nearest JR rail
The house is a contemporary renovated town house, it is actually more spacious than the pictures shown and the lighter is much softer and warmth, there is a small backyard with a tiny pond in the middle, the 2nd floor have some interested hollow floor design with a foot bridge connecting the bedroom so you can see the first floor from the 2nd floor, the art collection such as some wall painting and slide door as well as the teapot collection is quite classy as well

United StatesThe beds were very hard and it was close to a trolly/train track, so bring ear plugs for sleep.
The arrival was nice and hospitable. They were able to accommodate us a bit early. This helped a great deal, as we had been traveling with luggage for a large part of the day. The place was great design, a good space to eat meals, spacious, and a good location for getting to lots (close to rail and bus routes).

NetherlandsThe beds and futons were hard and the pillows quite small. It was just 2 of us staying at the house so I grabbed several pillows from the other beds as well as a duvet to make the futon more fluffy. The beds mattress were so hard that we decided to sleep on the futons which, as a westerner, we are not really used to it. However we enjoyed the futon room and it was also the warmest. Downstairs we had to keep the airco constantly on to have the room a bit warmer. When we turned off the airco for the day upon coming back was quite cold.
Really nice and spacious house. Extremely clean and overall a nice vibe. It was close to every major attraction in Kyoto and we found some really nice restaurants in the neighbourhood too. I would stay here again if I would have the chance.

IrelandConvenient Stay with Good Location, but a Few Trade-Offs We stayed at this house-style apartment for a few nights and overall had a pleasant experience. The location was very convenient — close to restaurants, supermarkets, and even some clothing shops, which made daily needs easy to take care of. The apartment itself was clean and functional. Facilities were okay, though there wasn’t much available for cooking, so it’s more suited for short stays or if you plan to eat out. The beds were a bit on the firm side, but still comfortableConvenient Stay with Good Location, but a Few Trade-Offs We stayed at this house-style apartment for a few nights and overall had a pleasant experience. The beds were a bit on the firm side, but still comfortable enough for a good night’s sleep. One thing to note is the sound of the train, which can be a bit disruptive at times, especially if you're sensitive to noise. Another downside is the lack of on-site parking — while there are parking options nearby, they can get quite expensive if you're staying multiple days with a car. Overall, it’s a solid choice if you’re looking for convenience and a decent place to rest, especially if you're planning to explore the area rather than spend too much time indoors.

JapanOne of their cleaning staff entered the house and bedroom in the middle of night hoping he could crash there, waking up my boyfriend and I while we were sleeping which was a little traumatizing. If you are concerned about your safety or privacy, I would not recommend this place. The owner was apologetic but stated there was nothing she could do about the situation.
The house was nice and had 3 rooms and 2 toilets, which was convenient for our situation of 1 family of 4 and 1 couple. The convenience store was very close by as well.
