Perfect services, nice staff

Joe & June are the ultimate hosts at their beautiful home stay where we spent 5 nights during spring. The attic room was perfect for two, very comfortable and serviced daily. The breakfasts cooked by June and served by Joe are next level dining and we enjoyed different dishes each morning. Joe would ask what we had planned for the day and return with printed maps and advice on places of interest & lunch time suggestions. The onsite onsen is a great way to round out the day, whether it be skiing or visiting the local area.

It's the first time I've had to get shuttle buses to the slopes - they run on time but it's just so much easier ski-in/out. Excellent breakfasts. Onsen was a very welcome conclusion to each day The apartment massage chair The clothes washing facilities in the apartment were very useful. No need to pack so much spare clothes. Joe and his attention to detail and helpfulness.

Nothing I can think of!

Our stay at Kunugi was amazing. The property was peaceful and the views around us were magic. The location was an easy short walk from the centre of Echoland and the breakfast was plentiful and delicious. Our room was spacious and spotless with everything we could need. The bonus of having the onsen's and massage chair elevated our experience. The host & staff were incredible, so accommodating, helpful & kind. Thank you again, we will be back!

Nothing - we loved Kunugi.

We loved everything about Kunugi. Our room was super comfortable, had all that we needed and was beautifully created with a mix of traditional and modern. Breakfast every morning was a treat - beautifully presented, nutritious and so tasty. The private baths were absolutely fantastic - great to share as a couple and to relax after skiing. The absolutely best part of Kunugi are the hosts - wonderful lovely friendly people who bent over backwards to help us with whatever we needed before and during our stay, they just made it such a great experience. Very sad to leave but we will return.

Nothing, everything was perfect.

We loved everything. We stayed for 6 nights and had 2 room the 'Attic' and 'Nagomi'. They were both super spacious, really comfortable beds, massage chair in each room, kitchen that included a wash/dryer machine. The attic room had a room for luggage and hanging clothes and there's a security safe box. The set breakfasts are incredible and a different one each morning. When we had early starts, they brought breakfast early to our room which was so amazing. There are 3 different private onsens 2 inside and 1 outside, a steam room for an extra charge and you can book massages. There's a drying room for boots and gloves and ski clothing goes to your room. There is a public bus about 100m down the road to access some ski resorts and there's a cute little bakery around the corner and a great ramen place as well. There's plenty of space to park car if you have one. The hosts were incredible and went above and beyond everyday. Can't wait to come back.

It isn't in the main street with the restaurants but that made it quiet as well.

The property was wonderful. I didn't expect three onsens (one leading out to external view of snow), the biggest being available to book, and when I say book, there are only four rooms in the place and three onsens so you are guaranteed a private onsen pretty much whenever you like. Massage chair was an added bonus and the breakfast amazing - four courses. Joe was always happy to suggest restaurants, shuttle buses and best mountains for the day. Joe's hospitality was first class.

Nothing; everything about Kunugi blew me away (including the immaculate Onsens, incredible breakfasts, in-room massage chair, ...). I cannot recommend this place enough.

Hospitality was beyond words – to celebrate our engagement, the staff literally built us an igloo (see photos) and provided champagne & roses. Rooms were beautiful (traditional yet modern). Location was perfect (both nightlife + ski shuttle access). Ryoji (Jo) and team made my first trip to Hakuba unforgettable.

Beautiful setting, photos don't do it justice. Easy walk to Echoland centre but out of the way enough so as not be loud. Room and hosts were incredible and extremely helpful. Outdoor onsen was a highlight, as were breakfast and massage chair. So comfortable and beautiful, would highly recommend

The rooms were large and comfortable, the breakfast was amazing, the location is ideal, and their onsen is the best that we found!

Exceptional service from the moment we arrived. The breakfast each morning was five star and the facilities offered were amazing. They went above and beyond to assist us with directions each day and even brought us lozenges one night, knowing we weren’t feeling too great. The location was a 5min walk to nearby restaurants and a few mins to shuttle busses, making our trips to the slopes and dinner so easy!

Being an older Aussie couple we would choose a different room next time since the Condo has an open staircase and low ceilings, but this is personal preference.

Such a beautiful personal accommodation traditional and quirky Japanese. We could not praise Jo and his wife higher and will be back one day. A 4-course 4star breakfast set every morning everything homemade. Adult only hotel with 3 Onsens, one of them for private daily use. Restaurants all walking distance on main drag in Echoland.

The owners and staff were so friendly and helpful, they look after you the whole time that you stay. The accomodation is beautiful, in a beautiful location. We loved getting to come back to the hot baths at the end of the day! Will definitely be returning and recommending to others.

Our stay at Kunugi was absolutely incredible. Ryoji and his wife were so accomodating and made us feel so welcome, they went above and beyond and helped us with everything. Best accommodation we have stayed in. We stayed in the combi room which was very large and comfortable. The owner is very friendly as are all the staff. He gave us great suggestions for places to go during our snow trip. The outdoor bath was also excellent and a great place to relax after a long day at the snow. The breakfasts in the morning were very good as well. The location is good as well as it is near one of the main streets of Hakuba and close to the free shuttles that run over the winter.

Jo & his wife were incredible hosts. This was definitely our favourite part of the trip, it’s hard to pick just one thing that was best as it all was amazing! The onsen, the breakfasts, the service… all 10/10✨

Our stay at this amazing place was truly exceptional! Mr. Ryoji and his wife welcomed us with such warmth and kindness, making us feel at home right away. When we encountered some challenges upon our arrival, Mr. Ryoji went above and beyond to assist us and provided excellent suggestions for everything we needed. The hospitality we experienced was unmatched, and we couldn’t be happier with our time here. We are already looking forward to coming back and would highly recommend this place to anyone seeking a memorable and heartwarming stay
