How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

Verified reviewWe had such a wonderful stay in this hotel. The neighborhood is quiet, perfect for a good rest. Many nice places to eat nearby, also a short walk to the rainbow street for even more options. The room is comfortable and clean, and the breakfast is very good. The staff, Ayad, is super kind and helpful, very attentive. He even helped me to follow up with the airline as my luggage did not arrive with me at the airport. Will definitely go back to stay here again .

Verified reviewVery clean room and nicely located area. It is much quieter compared to hotels in downtown, but you are not far from sites to visit. The staff was also super friendly and helped us with everything.

Verified reviewI had a truly wonderful stay at The Y Hotel and would not hesitate to recommend it to anyone visiting Amman! The location in Jabal Amman is ideal, just minutes from Rainbow Street and walking distance to both the Citadel and the Roman Theater. As a solo female traveler, I felt completely safe walking in the neighborhood even at night. The hotel itself is spotless. My room had a lovely view over the city, and everything felt peaceful and well-kept. The value for money is excellent especially considering the comfort and location. Breakfast was generous and tasty - I especially loved enjoying it on the terrace with a view each morning. But what truly sets The Y Hotel apart is Ayyad, the supervisor who seems to run the entire hotel single-handedly and flawlessly. He is easily one of the kindest, most hard-working people I've ever met. From helping with sightseeing advice, arranging transport, carrying luggage, to waking up before 4AM to personally check me out and hand me a takeaway breakfast... he does it all. I felt right at home thanks to Ayyad's hospitality. You get the sense that he treats every guest this way, and it makes the entire stay feel incredibly personal. This hotel stay was the perfect ending to my Jordan trip. I'll definitely be back :). Thank you Ayyad and thank you Y Hotel Amman!

Verified reviewThe hotel is in a great neighborhood with several restaurants nearby. The bed was comfortable.
The breakfast buffet was awful. The food was old and made me very ill. It had obviously been re-refrigerated for many many days (months?). You only have a few guests...why not get rid of the buffet and do a simple made to order breakfast?

The soap dispenser was difficult to use and the air conditioner was weak. That wasn’t a problem for me because I love the heat.

Verified reviewA friendly and welcoming place. Ideally located not too far from the old town, but far enough away to be a bit quieter. The room is large with a balcony and a very big comfortable bed and well appointed bathroom. This is our second visit to the Y hotel and we were as happy as before. The breakfast is a very good mix of different foods and drinks. Mr. Ayyad is so friendly and helpful and even prepared a takeaway breakfast for us because we had to leave at 4 o’clock in the morning. Highly recommended if you are staying in Amman and want somewhere which is friendly, comfortable and clean.

Verified reviewI chose this hotel because of the amazing reviews and I can only join the other guests who have found a heaven of calm and warmth and quietude in this hotel! The person who is taking care of everything in this hotel is the kindest man on earth, I swear! I spent two weeks at the hotel and I felt like he was my uncle! And he'll be there when you visit because he's been there for twenty years and is not going to go away. He's the best!! The pillows are comfy, the rooms are clean, the bed is cozy, the city seems so quiet around this place! The area is perfect as you can walk to certain places of interest and tasty restaurants. Or you can take a cheap cab. I enjoyed the breakfast and miss it already! Thank you for everything! When I come back, I will return to this wonderful place!
