How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

Verified reviewI’ve stayed in many places around the world — from boutique eco-lodges in the Andes to hand-built cabins in Iceland — but nothing quite prepared me for the soulful experience I had at The Legacy of Wadi Rum. This isn’t just a place to sleep; it’s a story you step into. From the moment I arrived, I felt like I was part of something bigger. The attention to detail is striking — not in a polished, commercial way, but in a way that feels raw, thoughtful, and deeply personal. The tent was simple yet elegant, with handmade touches and materials that clearly reflect the desert’s own textures. Water is kept in clay jugs. Solar lights glow just enough to guide your way without drowning the stars. You feel like you’re exactly where you’re meant to be. What really stood out? The people. Ahmed and his team don’t act like hosts — they act like guardians of something precious. Every gesture, every word, every smile felt genuine. They even packed a small gift for me as I left — a piece of local tradition, with a handwritten note. I won’t lie — I got emotional. Book the full-day desert tour if you can. My guide had that rare mix of knowledge, humor, and genuine love for the land. We talked about geology, history, and silence — yes, silence. Because even that feels sacred out here. If you’re lucky enough to find availability, don’t hesitate. You’re not just booking a night. You’re becoming part of a legacy.

Verified reviewI didn’t expect to feel this way about a stay in the desert. Everything — from the layout of the tents to the design of the bathroom — was intentionally crafted to belong to the land, not just in it. There’s a genius kind of simplicity in how things are built here. Nothing excessive, nothing artificial. And that’s the luxury. Luxury, I’ve learned, isn’t about glass walls and private jacuzzis in the desert. That’s just importing the city into a place that was never meant to be a city. True desert luxury is harmony — with the silence, the stars, the stories whispered by wind. The bathroom (yes, I’ll say it) was a highlight. Ingeniously built, fully functional, but utterly respectful of the environment. Every element served a purpose, and every detail reflected a vision: sustainability, beauty, and authenticity. Ahmed, the mind behind this place, isn’t just running a camp — he’s restoring an endangered idea. That the desert has its own rhythm and truth. That we don’t need to dominate nature to enjoy it. That sometimes, the most unforgettable experiences leave no trace but footprints. When I stayed here, I didn’t feel like a tourist. I felt like I was participating in something meaningful. A different kind of tourism — one that gives back instead of taking. I left with no guilt, no waste, only gratitude.

Verified reviewThe location was wonderful. The evening meal was truly excellent, although breakfast was mediocre. The tented accommodation was as expected although the toilet/shower block was much better than expected. The dining room had been very tastefully decorated, while the ambiance of the whole camp was great. We loved it. Our two tours followed the tourist circuit and was for us, as first time Wadi Rum visitors, spectacular.
The camp fire experience, in the cave each evening, could have been organised better. Asking for questions is fine but we had already asked countless questions during our tour and were expecting some light hearted entertainment/games/singing - none of which happened. Our tour guide, Abdullha, was superficially friendly and enthusiastic but he wasn’t very interested in being anything other than our driver, although he did cook us an excellent lunch. He would be much better if training were given on how to offer a fully guided, immersive and informative experience for guests.

Verified reviewThe staff was friendly. The location was very nice. The ride to the camp site was timely managed.
The dinner is below par. They serve chicken as the only protein which gets rationed out 1 piece and if there are any leftover you might get a second one. Also they market their family rooms to have air conditioning but there is no air-conditioning in the family tents. I hope they can have lamb, carbonated drinks and juices added to their dinner menu.

Verified reviewAhmed met us at our arranged time and location and immediately took us out on our jeep tour. We had a fantastic time enjoying the sites, and we were encouraged to take our time at our various stops in order to enjoy our experience. We did have more chances to climb around the sand dunes / rocks / hills and explore a canyon than we had expected, which was wonderful. The end of our jeep tour was a sunset viewpoint, which was stunning. Dinner included a traditional dish that was cooked in a container that was dug into the sand. We were taken outside to watch Hani dig it out as the cooking process was explained. The chicken was the best we've ever had. (Breakfast and dinner did have options that were vegetarian only as well). We are not big campers and our camping experience was fantastic and we would highly recommend Star Walk.

Verified reviewWe were the only guests in the camp. The owner was very friendly and helpful gave us a great tour of wadi rum. The chef cooked incredible dinner. They gave us extra blankets for the night. And there was warm water in the showers which was great at night as it gets cold. The lounge area is also very nice.
The towels they gave us smelled very bad.

We went in winter and it is crazy cold in the tents as they have no heating. Slept in full clothes plus hat and gloves under the provided blankets - in a way added to the experience but if you weren’t prepared you were in for a nasty shock. Trips are quite pricey

We appreciate your observation about the winter temperatures in the tents. It indeed adds to the unique experience of staying in the desert. Verified reviewThis is a small camp in the Wadi Rum area. There are other camps nearby, but you cannot see them, so the feeling is that you are more secluded, which I appreciated. The tents are basic, of course, but good and the beds have hotel quality, super comfortable (that was a nice surprise!). The bathroom is shared but always clean and everything works properly. The meals are homecooked and very good quality of ingredients. Water always available. The staff is great. The camp attendant was the most good natured person I have met in a long time and always taking care that we had water, food, tea. The camp host is very organized and professional, clear comunication and information. Also, everyone was punctual all the time, the tour guides, our ride to and from the camp, etc, and I appreciated that. Price-quality relationship for the camp is unbeatable.
Tours are a bit expensive. However, the price of the stay (tent+dinner+breakfast) is very affordable so we understand that the profit must come from somewhere and in my mind I took the total cost as one, for the whole experience. It is also fair to say that we really liked the tours we had and that it is obvious that the host makes a point of providing quality.
Greetings, Carina! We are pleased to hear you enjoyed the secluded feel, comfortable beds, and the cleanliness of our camp. Your appreciation for our staff and the quality of meals means a lot. They offered different tours, we opted for the half day tour. Totally worth it in the evening to avoid the heat.
