How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

Verified reviewSuleman the manager is a wonderful host. He discretely responds to all the guests’ needs and questions and can set up activities on demand (jeep tours, stargazing, early morning drives etc). He doesn’t push and activities and is clear about the prices from the outset. Responsive communication and the pick-up was all very smooth. The food in the camp was outstanding! We did not expect to have salad in the desert and there was plenty for everyone to enjoy the buffet, followed by tea around the campfire. A really magical, memorable experience.
Nothing, we’d certainly come back. And we live in Amman so hope to do so soon!

Verified reviewSuleyman is a great host and runs the property very well. We had air conditioning service all day, tasty feast for dinner, non-stop tea and a yummy breakfast. He offered to take us star gazing at night, helping us organize a jeep sunrise tour and we had a fantastic time getting to know him more. Rooms were clean and staff is super lovely. Highly recommend this spot.
We wish we spent more time there!

Verified reviewThe location was incredible, nested in the desert and right by one of the main sunset spots in Wadi Mujib. We reached it with our own SUV after pick up at the Visitor Center. The 4x4 tour was OK, even though the guide did not provide any information during the tour itself.
The staff was borderline rude and we had to Whatsapp 2-3 times for them to reply. The rooms were small (which is no surprise in the desert, but it didnt even have ONE place to hand stuff) no hot water in the shower, not clean. The food was disastrous: the buffet was truly minimal with 3-4 big platters where everyone served themselves from; the chicken served cooked in the underground oven was incredibly dry, there was no entertainment as in other camps around the desert (music or other). Breakfast was also incredibly disappointing. We reserved 1-2 months in advance for well over 100€ a night - very overpriced. Because additional friends decided to come with us we had to book one additional room the day before and the price then was 23€ vs. the 100€ of our original reservation. All in all: AVOID. There are way better bubbles in Wadi Mujib for better prices.
Thanks for this comment. First, we contacted you and waited for you at the visitor center. I have the message and photos. You didn't respond. Why are you lying? When you came, you wanted a tent with a pool. This is unreasonable. You're coming to a desert. You should respect people and not call them rude. When you booked two tents? I gave you three tents for the same price, but you don't deserve this respect. You booked the rooms through Booking. Why don't you like the prices of your accommodation before you came? Cancel your reservation and book somewhere else. You know that prices change from time to time, but what bothered me is that I did everything I could and waited for you at the visitor center, and in the end, you lied. You disrespected the place and smoked in the room and the restaurant after breakfast. This was really... I hope that when you go somewhere, you respect that place

Verified reviewAn incredible, memorable fifth time at Sand Star Camp. I can't find the words to describe how well I always feel in this camp. I love waking up in the morning, going to see the sunrise and then in the evening enjoying the gorgeous sunset, followed by star gazing at night. I love the atmosphere in the camp, friendly, hospitable owner - Suleiman who always does his best to make my stay enjoyable. People working there, the food, the jeep tours - everything is amazing. It makes me want to come back again and again. I love the peace and quiet that Wadi Rum offers. Really unforgettable moments. The tents are fine, clean, there is hot water and air conditioning at night. The location of the camp is really nice as it is situated between the rocks of Wadi Rum desert. I highly recommend Sand Star Camp!

Verified reviewSuleman was great. The dinner and the location were both amazing.
The AC only works at night time for a short amount of time, time during which we don't even need it. Would be nice to have this available during the day and morning too.

Verified reviewSand Star Camp is a really nice spot! You can't beat the beautiful location, and Suleman was a great host - very responsive, personable, and flexible to your needs. I would definitely stay here again!
During the day, I would recommend doing activities outside of the room. The room is great with a gorgeous view, but you're in a desert so it is obviously going to get hot in there and being outside with the breeze is better during the day.

Verified reviewGreat location. Pick up at the visitor centre went smoothly. Jeep safari good value for money. Food good and fairly priced. Endless supply of tea, coffee, water. Very comfortable. If you've not stayed in the desert, do it, you will not be disappointed and this is a great place to stay.
Air Con in room only worked at night which meant in the day you were confined to the communal lounge / restaurant. Other than the jeep tours and camel rides there is nothing to do, which is fine, but 2 nights was enough for us. Whilst there is free water, tea and coffee they don't sell juices or pop, so for cold drinks its water or nothing. We loved staying here but think it would have been even better if there had been more guests (but sadly that's the impact of the war in Gaza, which actually a very long way away).

Verified reviewMy third stay in this truly magical place full of stars. The camp is located in a fantastic place between rocks of Wadi Rum, total peace and quiet and a good escape from your day-to-day life. The owner of the camp, Suleiman is a wonderful, friendly host, taking care of every guest, providing great service and hospitality. You can feel at home there, the people working there are really friendly and hospitable. I loved the evenings there, so quiet. Star gazing, sitting by the fire, drinking tea and watching sunrise and sunset there is something I will never forget. The best sleep ever, my number one stay in Jordan. Not to mention the food, which is also amazing and freshly prepared. You can try popular dishes, like Zarb. The tents have a typical Bedouin decor and style, there is a bathroom and air conditioning working at night. I had a private jeep tour with the route planned especially for me, visiting places in Wadi Rum which I asked for. Highly recommended! Lots of fun during the jeep tour and I had a chance to drive a jeep as well, which was a truly unforgettable experience - thank you Abdul Karim for giving me this opportunity. Wadi Rum is a place that shouldn't be missed and Sand Star Camp is the best to enjoy this magical desert fully. The Milky Way, the stars at night, the silence of the desert, wonderful hospitality of Suleiman, these are the memories that will stay with me forever. If you need some escape from your busy life, don't hesitate and choose Sand Star Camp for your stay in Wadi Rum. Thank you very much for an amazing stay. I can't wait to come again and I am sure I will. See you and all the best for all the Sand Star Family.
