Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

VietnamNothing to be honest.
We have a great time living in the guesthouse and couldn’t ask more, The location is perfect which is only 10min walk to Petra visit center. The room is clean and we have spacious cooking area with the living room and kitchen, The owner Mohammad has been super helpful and friendly, he gave us all inside information how to visit the Petra ancient city and help us to arranged the transportation to the next city with the local rate. He also shared a lot insightful information about Jordan and living here in general which I learn a lot. We were in Jordan not in the perfect timing when their neighbors are into war but all Jordanian we have meet here make us peaceful stay. Thanks so much for your hospitality.

United StatesJust to add something: I sometimes forgot to put on the provided bathroom shoes and would get my feet wet on the bathmat. Just the nature of most bathrooms, but honestly the only negative experience I can point to here. Bring your own bathroom shoes if using provided ones grosses you out. I guess I could say it got a bit warm at night, but not annoyingly so. Just let Mohammed know what you need if you need it; he'll do his best to make sure your stay is comfortable. I'm sure the only thing that could have made our stay here better was more people
We were two guys staying 3 nights/4 days in Wadi Musa. We stayed in the two bedroom room and requested breakfast the last two mornings. Mohammed's hostel is very low-key and nice. Mohammed's heart for gardening really shows in the beautiful plants he cares for in the front and entryway. Mohammed himself is great to talk to. He's helpful in offering many options for us for meals, experiences, or transportation; BUT he's very content with your declining these offers. We really enjoyed spending breakfast times with him and his joyful kids! (Simple, but filling breakfast as of June 2025 was 5 JD per person) There were a couple other guests at the hostel, but we never really got to interact with them, which in one sense was a bit of a bummer, but it also meant we virtually had the whole place to ourselves 🤷♂️ Mohammed met us at the bus stop to give us a ride to the hostel. The location is on the quiet edge of town, while being just a short and pleasant walk to Petra and nearby shops and restaurants. When checking in, Mohammed made sure we knew where everything was, then gave us the key to our room, which we were able to lock when we left (but honestly, it would have been just secure leaving it unlocked, but it was nice for the peace of mind). I'm sure the only thing that could have made our stay here better was more people; so make sure you take advantage of this great hidden gem! In short: Peaceful, good amenities, great host, great location, and great for value.

FranceMohammed, our host, with his generosity, like the Jordanians, gave us an incredible welcome and made our trip a waking dream. Even after we left Petra, he helped us find the best travel options at a great price. As for his hotel, he is friendly, family-run, and very pleasant; we felt at home there. Thank you to him for everything; we are very grateful to have met him and we highly recommend him.

New ZealandThe location of the house was good, less than 10 mins walk from the Petra visitor centre. A tasty dinner was arranged for 10JD, which is more expensive than what we paid in Amman, but considering the price of restaurants in Petra, the food portion was abundant and tasty. The room was a little small but comfortable and there's a common lounge for people to relax. We liked that guests had to remove shoes before entering as it kept the floors clean. These are some suggestions to make this place even better: Several basic items were at additional costs e.g. towels, tea, coffee and A.C. We understand that this may be a way to keep the accomodation cost low. However, small complimentary items could greatly enhance a guests' experience..having to pay for every single little item isn't always the best feeling. The cleanliness of the bathroom and sheets could be a bit better as we found someone's hair and some black dust in one of the beds. Unsure if this is a common thing across Petra but the shower pressure was quite weak (not necessarily the hostel's fault) The above is just our honest perspective, overall we recommend staying at this place as it's very good value for money.

United StatesPlease note that during Ramadan, NO restaurants are open during the day, in Wadi Musa or in Aqaba, at least in 2025. (Various travel blogs led us to believe that in touristy areas of Jordan, plenty of stuff would be open. This is not the case now - tourism is down significantly in Jordan in the last couple of years.) You are on your own for food during Ramadan, so plan well!
Mohammed's hospitality is just top-rate! Our time at Petra was less than ideal - we came during Ramadan, we had pouring rain and chilly temperatures the whole time, and we managed to get completely lost on a hike at Little Petra. But Mohammed actually drove out there and sent a Bedouin guide to come rescue us. We made it back safely, and he drove us to a dry cleaner (because our clothes were sopping wet) and a phone repair shop (because I dropped mine on the hike). He also provided an amazing dinner for our family (you should definitely opt for this!), and offers bag lunches as well. The hostel itself is just as the photos show it - nothing fancy, but comfortable beds and warm bedding, everything clean, and very hot water. Oh, and good WiFi! We were invited to make ourselves at home - we used the kitchen, had a movie night in the shared lounge, and he ran a couple of loads of laundry for us as well. The hostel is only about a 5-10 minute walk from the Petra main entrance, so you can just leave your vehicle at his place.

MexicoThe price for the room was good, and you get what you pay, so dont expect huge luxury as this is like a local house where you will enjoy as if you were at home.
The location was great if you are planning to walk to Petra site, as it is just 4 minutes walking to the entrance of the site. The place is comfortable, good spaces inside the rooms, and the food from Mohammad is great and vast. He was always in touch with me, and trying to bring the best possible experience. He drove me to the back entrance and helped in many ways.
