How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. WiFi is NOT free. This is a deal breaker for me. Only in reception and restaurant is WiFi free, in rooms it is charged for. Edom misrepresent this on Booking. And why only 2 x 200ml bottles of water? Barely enough for anything.

Verified reviewGreat location very close to Petra visitor centre. The rooms are a bit vintage but big and clean, and the bed comfortable. Good breakfast and the best was the restaurant manager who was amazing, super helpful, very kind and attentive.
Lack of information on check in from the man on reception. E.g. We weren’t informed there was a swimming pool - found out at breakfast on check out. Would have been nice to take a dip after a long day walking/hiking in Petra. He was not particularly helpful either, told us it was our fault for not asking.

Verified reviewit’s really close to the entrance of Petra you can walk there there’s restaurants near by as well the mini bar is complimentary and it has drinks like Coke sprite Fanta which was such a bonus especially after walking around Petra on a hot day

We booked two rooms, and requested double bed for both rooms. Despite taking their approval, they stated otherwise and did not provide the double bed for the second room. Make sure you double check on your requests prior to arrival.

Facilities are a bit vintage and carpet could be taken better care of, but this is a small detail that does not affect a nice stay.

Verified reviewvery well located really at 5-10 minutes walking distance from Petra site entrance. rich breakfast and spacious room with all facilities. I would really like to thank Mr Khaled and his team, from the receptionists to the waiters serving the breakfast (I remember Aboud) for having treated my mum and I during our stay as "queens". They really helped us with all kind of needs and satisfied all our expectations. I would really recommend a stay in Edom hotel not only for the location but really for the people who work there as you will not be only a client but you would feel as part of a family. thanks again!

Horrendous hotel. Disrespectful, rude staff and general manager. Serious security problems, where general manager checked us into a room where someone already was living. We arrived 3 hours after the check in time (so they had plenty of time to prepare) and our rooms still were not ready. The manager took his sweet time, did not bother managing his staff and making sure the guests are not disrespected and stressed out (they made 3 of my friends cry!!). The staff was laughing at our face and never apologised .... (they had only 2 rooms out of 6 ready). We had evening plans to see Petra by night and were very late because they didn't give us the rooms on time and we couldn't even shower. The manager promised us full refund for our bookings but CAME BACK on his word the next day.... and refunded nothing. Since then no response from the hotel to communications from Booking's customer service to refund the money. Absolutely ridiculous behaviour and the worst experience I have ever had in a hotel. I strongly recommend to AVOID THIS PLACE.

Despite their best efforts to resolve the issue at hand, it appeared that you did not give them the opportunity to fully address the matter. I personally visited your room to apologize for the inconvenience, as mistakes can sometimes occur. Within 12 minutes, the issue was resolved to your satisfaction, and I assured you that we would take the necessary steps to prevent such occurrences in the future. Upon checkout, several other guests (YOUR FRIENDS) who stayed with you also inquired about refunds. While we have not promised them any compensation, we want to clarify that their rooms were in good condition, and no significant issues were reported during their stay. We understand that, unfortunately, you may have felt frustrated, but it seems there was a pre-existing intention to pursue a refund regardless of the circumstances. Please understand that we take pride in providing excellent service, and we are confident in the quality of our accommodations. As such, we are unable to accommodate requests for refunds in this situation(because we are not going to refund others). We appreciate your understanding. Breakfast was also ok, and the restaurant staff friendly and ready to make some extras in the kitchen for us. It’s close to city center and to Petra main entrance. Verified reviewVery convenient by all means, amazing price for the services, very clean, very friendly and helpful staff. Included Breakfast was great with variable options. The location is perfect, 2 minutes walking distance to the entrance of Petra and adjacent to different restaurants, close to transportation to Amman and wadi rum (JETT), and taxis.

Verified reviewThe hotel is located at walking distance to Petra visitors center. Spacious rooms with small balcony, a small swimming pool perfect for a swim after long day visiting. The staff at front desk and breakfast were very helpful and willing to assist us anytime. We felt the hotel was a very good value for money if coming to Petra.
The pool was a bit too cold for us .. but we still had a swim. Breakfast was good, I would just suggest to offer some bakery options.
