How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.

Verified reviewThe staff for the most part was excellent. Big up to the preferred front desk hosts. Your "Preferred Service" was really appreciated. The food in the preferred lounge, was really great. I met some really excellent servers in the Portofino Italian Restaurant and the Barefoot Grill. Special big up and thanks to my server in the main dining hall at lunch, who saw how distressed I was and made my birthday a whole lot better. Pity I cant recall names :(
Guest had to wait in the scorching summer heat in a long line to get to breakfast. This was not fun at all, I found it annoying as hell, so I skipped breakfast, only to realize that the same thing happens for lunch. This was not an enjoyable part of my experience. As a local, the staff was not as warm as they to were to the foreigners and it was very evident especially at the coffee shop and the jerk pit. The Service at the Jerk pit needs improving, as there was always a long wait to get food. The Butler Service left a lot to be desired as their assistance or lack thereof, took a very long time in getting whatever was asked for. The Butler Service is in name only.

Verified reviewI enjoyed the property and the warm welcome we received initially. We even got an upgrade. But this warm welcome soon faded.
The wait time for dinner was over 2 hours. They should have open up the buffet since the guess complement was near full capacity. We were locked out of our rooms the day of check out at10:30am and when we went back to the receptionist area to ask why no reasonable explanation or apology was given. Additionally, the bed was uncomfortable and I had a difficult time getting comfortable and falling asleep. There were also a limited option for breakfast. I was disappointed since the reviews mentioned excellent breakfast

There was several problem with the room. Shower soak the floor with every shower. Rooms definitely needs to be renovated. Several days I had to request sufficient towels for the room.

Verified reviewService desires much work. Our room was never cleaned one day after we returned to hotel at 4 pm. Despite another reminder it was still not attended to when we returned again after leaving room for 2-3 hours for spa treatment. Speaking of spa, instructions given at time of reservation lacked clarity! I had to return to room half way through to get my swim suit, which nobody bothered to inform us. Talk about relaxing spa! Also the dry heated Sauna was nonfunctional and when informed about it only response was ‘oh really’! We didn’t pay top dollars for such kind of response! Wifi on Day 1 was out of order and we were totally blacked out unable to inform family back home about our safe arrival! It’s a wonderful property with lot going for it but needs some work to soften the rough edges. They really need to mean it when they they greet us - ‘welcome home’.

I did not like that if your room is located on the opposite end of the property you will have to walk quite a distance to get to any food. All of the restaurants are located together and near a sister property, Secrets Wild Orchid. Room service takes quite a while to receive and there is a chance they may not get your order right. Thus you’re having to wait another 45 minutes at least. I also didn’t like that there was not a sitting area in the lobby. If you have mobility issues yet needed assistance from the front desk, you’d have to sit in the piano room which is secluded from the lobby. I also didn’t like the fact that for the property to be so massive, they didn’t have enough chairs and umbrellas at the pools. If you didn’t get up early before breakfast to claim a chair and umbrella, you would not have a seat. That was very disappointing. To pay all that money to stay there and can’t even get a chair and umbrella. I also didn’t like the fact that staff members would not take no for an answer when being offered spa services or time share presentations. They are very persistent which creates a not so relaxing vibe.

Verified reviewThe staff at this property are wonderful and kind. The location on a beach in beautiful Montego Bay is great. But almost everything else about the property and it’s management for us with something we’d never partake again.
Unbeknownst to many of us, there are two levels of accommodation and one is referred to as “preferred“. If you want to find a chair to either sit at the beach or at a pool and you’re not “preferred“ good luck. On top of this preferred nonsense, they have butlers serving the every need of some guests and moreover, they even have people who put towels down on the chairs for half a day so many of the chairs go unused but you’re not allowed to touch them because they are reserved. It’s all inclusive, but even if you paid $800 a night or more, don’t think you’re guaranteed to have dinner when you want. You could wait in line for an hour just to be fed and you’re not gonna be fed anything that’s going to impress you. Check the photos below for some of the lines. The entire concept is grotesque and then they have the goal to explain to you that you’ve paid far too much for your non-preferred status And how you should invest in thousands of dollars in their preferred status. Shame on Hyatt… It makes me never want to stay at one of their properties again. Given the history of Jamaica, there’s almost a sad irony to this, and I know that these folks are not sharing in the wealth that Hyatt obtains. I give a lot of credit to the Jamaican staff who works Butler a bunch of Americans and a handful of Europeans.
