How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.

Verified reviewGreat location. Close enough to all the attractions of Negril, 7 mile beach is a short drive, Ricks Cafe is walking distance, but far enough away to be secluded and relaxing. Love the cabin! No air-con so expected the cabin to get hot, but it was lovely and cool at night. Bug grilles on all the windows.
Booked this accommodation especially for the attached restaurant - Miss Pennys. Arrived to find the restaurant closed - like CLOSED. It's not been open for months and is not likely to re-open, but is still in the description of the property, including the menu! Disappointing.
I am sorry, but it is open from November to April, and on booking.com also bookable for that time.

Verified reviewIt was so beautiful. Loved walking the paths amongst the trees. Felt so peaceful. Loved having my morning coffee on the little patio in the rocking chair. Listening to the sounds. The cabin was spotless. So clean. The little kitchen had everything. Microwave, coffeemaker, kettle, toaster, hotplate, fridge with a little freezer so I could store ice cream. Anna who worked there was so nice, always smiling and helpful with everything.
The only thing I missed sometimes was an AC , because I had hot flashes, but the big fan in the ceiling was just fine.

Verified reviewThe nature and the cottage itself
Every morning the employees would be talking loud and watching video’s, at 7 in the morning. You can hear everything through the cottage walls and windows, because the windows are made from wood and can’t close fully, which you also don’t want because the place does not has AC. There were no curtains on the bathroom window so I had to put a towel over it because anyone could have seen me in the bathroom showering. I also felt like I was the only one on the property together with a couple, it felt really weird because there are a lot of cottages, as if something was not quite right. At the end, I was not asked about my stay and if I enjoyed it, so weird. Not worth it for the price.
This is anoymomous, so we believe to know who the review belongs to and guess it is because we do not accept visitors at night.

Verified reviewThe property is beautiful and peaceful with so many birds and butterflies. The layout of the cottages is very well considered - you have privacy but also community if you want it. Penny was a wonderful host - very considerate and knowledgeable about Negril, its flora and fauna and its unique history. I will definitely be going back to the Lighthouse Inn 2. Also, Negril has so many food options - from fine dining to street food - it truly is one of the best places to visit in Jamaica... and West End is the best part of Negril.
I would have loved a lounge chair on the verandah so I could lounge outdoors and nap, and somewhere to hang my damp towels and swimwear.

The over change me to sleep out side with no water or back up lights people was walking a round with guns.. and they have a small gay community there
The person never stayed with us, we do not know the name. Somebody with the reservation no came, seemed to be drunk, curse and left, never checked in. We reported his misconduct. We do not know, how he could ever be allowed to give a review??? I believe this review is not in the guideline of booking.com. We do not know anybody by this name

Verified reviewThe property is truly a peaceful tropical paradise. It is a very secure property. I lounged hours away, napping in the hammocks, and took outside showers in nature daily. The owners are fantastic people. The food is outstanding. If you are a nature person, this is the spot for you! I'll definitely return. Catching a route taxi is easy and it's only $200 jmd to get into town.
Wifi reception was weak in cabins, but you could get a stable signal sitting outside or at the restaurant (also outside but covered). Cabins are duplexes and are not soundproof, so you will hear every movement and sound your neighbor makes if occupied. Also, there is no AC in the cabins. Even in March, it was pretty stuffy inside in the daytime, hence afternoon naps in the hammocks (which was awesome)!

Genuinely the only negative was being without AC. But that’s something we got used to after a night and Mrs Penny (the owner of the property) lent us a great fan for our stay!

Verified reviewAunt Penny and her husband was so polite and caring. She almost felt parental. She took us shopping and made sure we had the best values and even help make sure we counted our Jamaican money correct. She gave excellent service, checked on us every day, brought extra fans. She and her husband out did themselves with the attention to detail they; provided.
I was a little warm ,at times, but the night and mornings were perfect!
We have Starlink since yesterday and a much better service.

Verified reviewGreat stay at Westend, east of the main road, no sea vie but jungle view. Different bungalows depending on your needs. Friendly and helpful German-Jamaican couple as host. Restaurant available onsite with Jamaican Jerk dinner on Saturdays. Walking distance to cool areas on the cliffs do hang out and go for a swim.
Could offer salt/pepper and a few more appliances in bungalows with a kitchen.
