Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United StatesIt's a bit isolated and up a long and steep path at the base of Blue Mountain. Which isn't inherently evil, but impaired persons may find it challenging especially if they don't have their own vehicle and can't find/use public transportation (taxis or cabs) for whatever reason. It's at least a few kilometers outside of town.
Fast and reliable wifi, hot water in the shower and sinks with good water pressure, the space is big enough and airy, many windows and a lot of natural light, no bad smells, gated property but gates do not block the views, small river just beneath the property and is easily accessible, good views from the backside of the house, a lot of greenery around the house, not a noisy area, neighbors engaged with me but didn't bother me, the house staff seemed cool, the house contains a working microwave and refrigerator plus gas stove, multiple electrical outlets by the beds and they work, all of the lights work, every room that I saw includes a ceiling fan plus windows including the outside porch, cool artwork and sculptures, the host is friendly and hella responsive, public transportation options to get to and fro the house are available, plus more!

I loved the river being so close and the high ceilings. It was so cool during the day and especially at nights. The place was clean and fresh! I would recommend without a doubt.

Cayman IslandsOur only real issue was the night watchman, who unfortunately spent most of the night right outside our window, coughing, spluttering, and smoking. The noise and smoke made it difficult to get a good night’s sleep, which was a shame given how peaceful the setting otherwise was.
What an incredible location! The property sits right next to a lush, jungle-like ravine with a stream that flows constantly—its soothing sound created the perfect natural soundtrack to our stay. We spent a magical hour rock-hopping through the river canyon, completely immersed in nature. It honestly felt like we’d stumbled into a scene from Jurassic Park! The host was warm and welcoming, and the building itself was clean, modern, and thoughtfully designed, with plenty of aesthetic touches that made it feel both stylish and serene. It was also very conveniently located for an early-morning airport run. Free of traffic - it took less than 45 minutes.

IsraelThe indoor beauty complements the outdoor beauty of the house. Everything is pleasing to the eyes and inviting, there is a great kitchen to cook meals and a large table to enjoy them, as well as outdoor sitting spaces. The bathrooms are stylish and the excellent local art pieces on the wall make the place homey. William, the owner, can tell you anything you want to know about the place and the surroundings, and Nicole who lives in the community up the hill is a great help. Stay a few nights, relax to the sounds of Hope River which flows below, hike up the road to a few waterfalls, book a table at the Pretty Close Ital restaurant nearby, and visit the art center at Papine.

BrazilGordon Kotch is a true oasis in Kingston! A spacious house with a beautiful garden, well-ventilated and tastefully decorated, all next to a preserved stream that adds the perfect touch with its soothing sound for sleeping. The room was extremely comfortable, with a large bathroom and hot water. Our host, Mishka, was incredibly warm and patient in sharing information about Kingston and other helpful tips. We had an issue with our car, and she was very helpful in assisting us. We felt right at home, as if we had a friend in Kingston for a few days. We highly recommend this gem without hesitation!

Cayman IslandsI think the hostel should write a little description of how to get around the place, where to eat (there is one small restaurant in gordon town which is local and delicious), number of taxi service, etc... The staff isn't there most of the time, so its hard to get information, I got a lot of the information that I need from other travelers.
This place is a little gem right by the river, you can sleep at night with the sound of the river which is pretty magical. If you are looking for privacy the ensuite room is perfect and comfort. The hostel beds are also good and right in front of the river. I love the fact that you feel in the middle of nowhere but at the same time you are just 15min away from the city. The place is quiet, secure and comfortable.

SwedenThe location is 10 minutes walk from the taxi station, up a dirt track, which is unlit at night. You need to pay the shared taxi extra to drop you off outside the hostel (but during the day you can easily walk it, and it's a beautiful nature walk). The upper bunks felt a little bit too high and unsecured. There was no curtains etc around the beds for privacy. There were no lockers at all, but I was made to understand that these will be installed soon, so hopefully no longer a problem.
The location is pretty interesting; accessible fairly easily from the centre of Kingston by public transport (one change of shared taxi, plus a 10 mins walk), you're in absolute nature, surrounded by a forest and literally on top of a river. The hostel is effectively a 2 bedroom house, with a dorm room and a private room, as well as 2 full shower toilets, a kitchen, lounge, and a balcony on top of the river. The house is brand new and very clean, the facilities are all in great working order, and at least when I was the weather was perfect in the mountains. WiFi worked well, the hot water pressure was excellent, and electricity stable. The atmosphere overall was very pleasant and sociable, but with no staff in the evening time I guess it was down to luck that all the other guests were respectful.

The customer service by the Jamaican owner is outstanding! This was my second stay with Kotch Gordon Town. It's a modern home that was recently renovated to accompany local and international guests. The property that parallels a river that will lull you to sleep no mater which room you chose for your stay.
