Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United KingdomNo option of breakfast, no microwave or kettle in room as promised. The gate man was not very helpful and told us it was easy to stand on the main road and get a taxi, but after 20 mins waiting and a local telling us we would be stranded in the town and not be able to get back we decided to drive. As two female travellers, this could have been quite dangerous for us to go to the town without our car as we would have been stranded in the town. It was such a shame because the place could be so nice if the renovation work that they tell you was going on was actually going on, but it's not just a get out for the lack of maintenance etc.
I liked the fact that it was right next to the beautiful French Man's Cove Beach.

JamaicaI think their kitchen needs to be upgraded to a full kitchenette with modern amenities and esp a full functioning stove. This is so that guest can adequately cook for themselves rather than to pay extra cash again to order food, esp. when u have kids and there needs to be more cooking. I also think a laundry combo set could be added esp for persons who are on an extended stay.
I loved the location and the property. It was simply relaxing and close enough to Port Antonio to get needed items.

NetherlandsThe property is very dated and could use some renovation. Persons must be prepared for no TV in the rooms ( though you can pay to have a TV in the room). Also, the walls are very thin, so if you have a loud neighbour, you are in for a noisy time.

JamaicaWhile the buildings on the property are dated, they are not maintained properly. Tiles are falling off walls, beautiful wood panels are rotting, paint peeling and fixtures are broken.
Beautiful resort with one of the best beaches in Portland. There are large landscaped lawns that are set against lush fauna across the property. This is a nature lover’s paradise.

United KingdomPictures didn't resemble room given in what looked like an out of date storage unit, lonely dark and over ru with cockroaches. We complained and after duress given a small villa, which seemed much better until raw sewage came up through the shower plug hole.. could nit shower obviously. Small villa also had extremely noisy generator.. don't rent under par places, had to pay in advance for below standard accommodation so no refunds offered.. we would have moved if we could have got our money back. No duty manager on site and no response from her either the Western family from Texas ought to consider total refurbishment.

United StatesA palmetto bug in the bathroom, which the gentleman who greeted us doubted declaring I was an excitable woman (or something equally derogatory. Maybe some bottled water in the fridge would have been a nice gesture, since your letter said the water was too brackish to drink. The sliding doors did not slide much.
Clean towels and beautiful scenery. The plaques on the almond and Barringtonian(?) trees were informative, The beach was close.I loved seeing the stars. Rooms were spacious.

JamaicaWe could have gotten at least a bottle of water in the room because they knew, we didn't know until we got there that the water in the area is brackish - they have that sign up in the bathroom. Good thing I had a bottle with me but by morning I needed another, I asked at the reception area they said they didn't have any. They should have informed us that they are renovating. I knew it isn't all inclusive but I didn't know we had to leave the property to get food. The fact that they had no restaurant on property was very disappointing. Good thing is that a restaurant is across the road but still a good distance from our room, we couldnt walk. The room is okay, but the kettle wasn't working. So again to the restaurant for tea, by the time i got a kettle it was time to check out - very inconvenient. The partition in the room at the Great House is probably dry wall or ply board - very thin - We could hear all the conversation from the moment our neighbours stepped in - they woke us up after 10pm and at day break again - very loud. What was also disappointing is that i had to pay $400 for two beach chairs when we went to the beach - And I was saying to my spouse so what really am i paying for - I pay US$170 for one night and I can't get a bottle of water and I really came for the beach and as a registered guest I go to the beach and I still have to pay to use a beach chair. The WiFi did not work. Its open and the signal is high but it keeps saying - move closer to the modem so I really don't know.
I like the beach very much, the grounds and the river. The grounds are immaculate, very clean. Fortunately, because I was registered for accommodation, I could drive to the beach. I didn't know the property was so big and the facilities far apart.

United StatesThe manager was ornery and inhospitable which made the junior staff embarrassed and perplexed. The building I stayed in looked unkempt and disused. This iconic property is no longer getting the attention and care it deserves as one of Jamaica’s most celebrated addresses and…it appears it’s presently falling into deeper disrepair. I recommend visiting the beach but do NOT stay at the hotel, you will be disappointed.
The swimming area where the ocean meets the stream is stunning and it was pleasant and relaxing to spend time in that area. And the bedroom itself was tided up nicely daily.

United Kingdombroken head board and switches not working
I have worked in hospatality for 15- 20 years in the UK so my comments might be a little sharp, the location is superb cannot fault it but the villa needs a little updating and a refresh which i would be happy to give them some ideas on this, i would keep the retro look which is as as not updated probably since the 60;s this is nice but the paintwork needs a refresh so the paint is fresh white, our headboard was white bamboo but was broken, when we arrived the A/C was not on but this was fine, the villa was clean but needed a bit of airing before arrival as had a musty smell, some light switches didnt work and fan lights, the curtains need changing to shutters or blinds or white nets. the bed was a little uncomfortable, I would have a hair dryer & iron & board in all the villas. The bathroom is lovely but bulbs were not working & needs just a refresh of paint but decor is fine shower was fantastic better than our shower at strawberry hill. I think the site has a great lot of potential and I would be happy to assist. however I would go back and friends also want to come back and i would be happy to recommend it with these changes. oh the food prices and menu should be in the rooms & villas with a break down of different currency as this seemed to change daily on what I was charged and if your not familiar with the currency you could get overcharged so I would make prices very clear for your guests. if the property wants more nfo happy for them to contact me for a full report. Staff were great very professional & hospitable
