How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.

Verified reviewThe pool and beach area are awesome. Unfortunately it rained the whole time we were there; I was very upset as we could not enjoy all the facilities but they looked great. There’s also a lounge with games and a pool table which we played at night, and an outdoor lounge area. The rooms are very basic but super clean!! Highly recommend, and thank you Joanne and Carlton for being amazing hosts!

Verified reviewI stayed at this place based on the reviews read prior to booking and also because I wanted to save on spending money on all meals but after staying here, this place has more cons to me than it does pro. The pros are: The views from the ocean view room was absolutely breathtaking and it was very calming hearing the sound of waves when you wake up in the mornings I guess this could be a pro and a con but my husband and I initially booked a garden view room but our room was given to another guest and we weren’t notified about it until we arrived which I thought could’ve been communicated since they have my contact information and they could’ve communicated with me through the booking.com app but we got an upgrade to an ocean view room with a bigger tv to compensate for the inconvenience Another pro was that they allowed you to check in earlier than the 3 pm time which was good for us since we traveled a long way They also had hot and cold water which was great for us because the days we stayed it rained a lot and the nights were very cold so we just used hot water The staff was friendly
I didn’t like that the staff was only concerned about the money I owed upon arrival since they only took a prepayment prior to my arrival; the guy didn’t even help us to park. As soon as the car stopped he came by the window with the receipt in my face telling me what I had to pay like we were some shady people that they couldn’t trust. I’m like my god man at least allow me to get out of the car first, I wouldn’t book a place if I had no money to stay here. The breakfast to me that was provided wasn’t worth it for the cost of the place. We had to order more things so we could be more full after breakfast which cost us extra money The fact that Moxons is very far from other restaurants and you’d have to drive a good distance to Ocho rios town I feel their menu was very limited for everything because you could only eat what they have at the moment and that needs to change to have more variety for guests The door to room 305 needs fixing because the lock is spoilt and the door won’t lock properly plus it kept shaking and disturbing our sleep all night when the wind blew so we had to put a chair behind it to have a more peaceful sleep They had no security at the gate so each time we wanted to leave we had to walk and look for someone to let us out and the one guy does everything
Sometimes things just go array no matter how much one tries, I want to apologize for your uncomfortable reception, no disrespect was meant. I checked the situation with your reservation and what actually happened was that the guests that were staying in the room you booked had to extend their stay due to a medical emergency (heart attack), our senior staff was asked to escort them in the ambulance to Kingston just about an hour before you arrived. Leaving a young nervous employee who tried his best by giving you a room upgrade to an ocean view instead of giving you another courtyard room. We are not an all-inclusive big hotel, we have 18 rooms, since Covid, we limit our room occupancy to 6 rooms, by choice. There is a need for our property type in our area. The complimentary breakfast is provided so that guests never leave on an empty stomach. For people reading my reply I will add, There are cook shops in walking distance, local food average around $4.00 to $6.00. Also available a choice of three 5 Star restaurants about 5 to 10 minutes away, that have car services that do pick up our guests, however those restaurant meals average cost per person is about the cost of our double occupancy nightly courtyard rooms. Oche Rios is located about 20 minutes away, (local taxis $2.00 per person each way) where one can find Burger King KFC and a couple pizza houses. For those reading this revue, Breakfast at Moxons is included in Booking.com room rates, otherwise we have flat rate meal rates $12.00 for breakfast $12.00 for lunch a few snack items such as soup & festivals for $8.00 and dinner is $16.00 Breakfast choices are Jamaican, American choice of bacon & eggs or French toast & bacon or pancakes with sausage. includes coffee & juice., Lunch & dinner choices are Hamburgers & fries Club sandwich (bacon chicken & egg) with fries,, Jamaican dishes such as Rundown veggies (coconut milk sauce) or fillet Fish rundown, served with rice & peas, ,Escovitch fish served with rice & peas, Curry goat served with rice. Stuffed Chicken breast served with a medley of vegetables. as well as an assortment of appetizers. We operate more as a guesthouse type of property quiet laidback and value our return guests who search out what we have to offer at half the price of the big all inclusive alternatives. Thank you for letting us know about the rattling door, and door handle that do rust faster than one can imagine being by the sea have to be changed yearly, unless a guest tells us, there is no way to know because we keep the doors open when cleaning them. Verified reviewLovely hotel, décor needs refreshing. Beautiful ocean view with decks to the water. Staff were friendly and helpful. Small pool and big chill zone. Small private beach but a lot of sea grass. Carlton makes delicious meals, truly a gem.
Our courtyard room was to the front of the property. Dark As no options to open window coverings. Local cockerels started their morning chorus from 2AM onwards.
