How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.

Verified reviewThe location. The hosts were super friendly and the food was excellent.
I bumped my head in the layout of the shower cubicle. The shower cubicle could have been presented in a cleaner manner. We could have been left a stack of towel for our 1 week stay. I felt embarrassed having to ask for towels. The state of the towels ought to be revised.

Verified reviewthe bed was comfortable the owner are nice people I just needs the place need a little more love but and more modern furniture this will help maxismes space.
the property needs a re-paint and it was really hard to use the bathroom because it was so small the air unit need to renewed as it makes a loud ticking sound when it is turning on and off. I asked for the fridge to be cleaned and this is what the lady said she cleaned I had to do it myself

Honestly, the facilities could have been better. They are very aged and for the price, a bit unfair. Also, and a big turn off...the wifi doesn't work in the room. You have to go out the room to get even 1 bar

Verified reviewThe place was cozy and comfortable. Kerry our host was super accommodating. Stayed at the Winchester Estate property and wow it was super quite. The bed was comfortable and facility modern. Pricing was also on par. Will definitely go back on my next leisure trip into kingston.

Verified reviewThe welcome was excellent. The breakfast was good for the first 3/4 days and then it went downhill. I think that the owners mean well but maybe the staff needs some training or retraining.
The shower could have been a bit bigger. The room was not cleaned or the bedding changed for the whole duration of my 12 night stay. On at least 2 occasions the hot dog bread for breakfast was partly raw. There was no window in the room and therefore no view. Couldn't tell if it was night or day without opening the door.
Hi Wilfred, re the breakfast, part of the problem is that you did not eat many of the Jamaican breakfasts that we normally prepare and which many of our guests have commented favorably on. It was therefore difficult to provide our usual variety. When you asked for hot dogs, we bought the bread. Now, if you had said that the bread was stale, that would have been our fault, but you said that the bread was raw, a term that I had to seek the meaning of. It appears that the bread was not baked properly. I did not even know that could happen, but clearly, when you pick up bread in the supermarket, you cannot tell if it is raw, you can only tell if it is not fresh. And re your comment that there was no window, I have to disagree because there is a window. Most persons choose not to open it to preserve their privacy, and I accept that you cannot see the hills from the window. But there is a window. We accept that we should have changed your sheets. Anyway, you were a pleasant guest, and it was our pleasure having you.

Verified reviewI did not stay at the Barbican bed and breakfast . When I arrived the owner,Mrs Spencer upgraded me to a one bedroom apartment, short distance from the B and B due to the AC in the B and B not working. The apartment was lovely, clean, spacious,comfortable. Facilities -gym,swimming pool and laundry area. Walking distance to restaurant and supermarket , I also extended my stay to a further 3 nights.
TV was down for 3 days, Mrs Spenser and her husband though, was very hands on in trying to fix the problem and did eventually fix it on the 4th day.
