How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

Verified reviewBeautiful small, boutique property in a great setting. Very comfortable room with small terrace. Private sun bathing area with easy steps into the sea. Kayak and SUP available. Very good breakfast. Friendly and attentive staff. Hotel is just a few minutes walk into the heart of Forio. On-site restaurant is excellent. It’s more pricey than other options, but absolutely worth at least one visit.
Nothing not to like.

Ask for a room that is not directly underneath the restaurant

Verified reviewThe hotel was gorgeous. The views from the rooms were breathtaking. The breakfast was delicious. There were a selection of breads, eggs cooked to order, cured meats and cheese, and fresh fruit. The private swimming area was so comfortable and there were never more than 2 other guests on the terrazzo. The staff was incredibly helpful. The hotel was well located for a short walk into Forio. I took a combination of taxis and buses and it was all well connected.
Nothing, it was perfect!

Verified reviewLocation, direct access to ocean and walking distance to town center. Beautiful views, basic yet comfortable and spacious rooms with a sea view terrace. Limited number of rooms so felt as if I was in a private villa steps from the sea rather than a hotel catering to many.
Nothing. Only downside is if you’re looking for thermal pools, you’ll have to spend the day elsewhere. However, I enjoyed the direct access to the ocean and enjoyed walking to places so that wasn’t an issue for me.

Verified reviewIf you're staying in Forio and you want a fairly priced hotel with a good view, look no further. The view is breathtaking. It's an excellent value for the money. Our room was charming, good size and had a lovely terrace with gorgeous views of the cliffy coastline. They also have a little private seaside area with lounge chairs which is even better than the beach, in my opinion. Could not be better in this regard. The best meal we had during our stay was in the hotel restaurant, so don't miss it! The staff were exceptionally professional and friendly, they made us feel right at home. They are very warm will accommodate all of your needs. I love the location, it was very convenient to walk to the town/port and it's right underneath their famous chapel. Forio is full of vacationing Italians, so it has an authentic Italian feel and isn't overtaken by western tourists. There's a perfectly good beach walkable from town if you don't want to venture too far. If you do want to explore around the island, I recommend asking the reception to arrange a scooter rental for you. It was only 25 euro for the day and they bring it to the hotel for you. We had an unforgettable day driving over to Ischia Ponte. But make sure you understand and obey the traffic laws. Local police don't mess around when you disregard the signs.
Our stay was almost perfect aside couple things related to sleeping. Two of the three nights we were kept awake from the staff rearranging tables and chairs upstairs late at night. Also, I like a firm mattress, but this one was a little too hard and the pillows are a little lumpy. If it weren't for this, it would have been 10/10.

Verified reviewWowww! This is an amazing property, jutting out into the sea from a rocky promotory, with a historic church above it. We loved the hotel from the minute we walked into our room and saw the two small balconies, with windows open, right over the rocky shoreline and water. Breakfast was very good, with the outdoor seating overlooking the sea. The experience and the property was amazing. And the small number of guest rooms (maybe 12?) made it a very cozy stay. The room was decorated with the colorful tile and furnishing we found common in the area. Clean, right-sized and comfortable. The location was perfect for us. 5 minute walk to Forio city center, ferry, restaurants, etc.
The bed was too soft for our taste, but other than that, not a thing! Would love to go back again!

Verified reviewBeautiful old building, built into the rocks. Right on the peninsula looking out to sea. Great sun deck with comfy loungers and steps down into the water.
Hate to complain, but the pillows were not great. 😕

Verified reviewthe views are amazing
there is no reception so no one to greet you. The rooms are not really cleaned properly even though they have housekeeping, for example empty soap packet sat on vanity the whole 6 days, no hot water on one morning, no one really speaks english which we found very difficult to navigate . It is in an outstanding location however the hotel is old. The breakfast is lovely and do was the waitress. If your room is on lower levee there is no privacy from neighbours. To swim in beach which l did not at the property is dangerous , massive rocks to manoeuvre . The best part for us was the restaurant it was outstanding, request the terrace seating . All staff pleasant but we were left underwhelmed . At last have a manned reception area . Finally no iron and no tea/coffee facilities so apart from breakfast you need to go into town for a coffee.
