How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.

Verified reviewI don’t know why people give bad reviews for this apartment. Location is perfect, the staff also, they allowed to us check in early and check out later. Whеn we don't have clean towels and toilet paper, we said to them and they deliver immediately.
Only the stairs because they are difficult for the big baggage like ours. And for long stay like ours for 9 days, I think they need maybe two times during the stay to change bed sheets for sleeping.

Verified reviewI would not recommend this studio to anyone. From the moment we booked, we had concerns about the property. Despite repeatedly requesting check-in instructions a day before our arrival, we received inadequate communication. Upon arrival, we discovered that the studio had no running water. The owner acknowledged the issue and offered to reimburse us for one night, assuring us the water issue would be resolved by the next morning. Unfortunately, the problem persisted, and the owner showed little concern. Although we were promised a full refund, we have yet to receive it. Additionally, the studio is quite noisy and lacks natural light, which made our stay even less enjoyable. If you're looking for a relaxing and worry-free experience in Bari, I would strongly suggest looking elsewhere.
Hello I am sorry you had to experience this problem, unfortunately nothing we could foreseen. we dealt with the problem very quickly offering you a full refund as requested. as I told you many times you should deal with booking. con as they hold the money and sometimes take few days for the money to be transferred. if you were looking for a relaxing place then you shouldn't have booked in the heart of an old town as it is a lively touristic place! I hope you enjoyed the resat of your holiday and liked Bari.

Verified reviewGood location, in the old town. We were 15min walking from Bari Stazione, which was perfect. The room is clean, it has it's own charm - a wardrobe and nightstands in the walls, very interesting, it has a vibe like a cave. The landlord was very kind. I saw comments that is super noisy- we slept very good. Yes, there is some noise, but notice that you are in the old town, where are a lot of people during the night. An apartment with interesting style.
I can't complain.

Verified reviewA very comfortable and cozy room right in the center of Bari old town. Clean and newly renovated. The bed very relaxing and the bathroom is a surprise with it's decoration. Apart from that we enjoyed a great hosting experience. We had all our questions answered in minutes and even got some handy piece of advice for our whereabouts in the city. Strongly recommended

Narrow spiral staircase, we were on second floor. Impossible with luggage. Dirty mouldy shower position of toilet too close to sink Loose basin on broken shelf No clean towels or bed linen for a 8 night stay No Wifi, although advertised as having it, Unable to contact owner although tried to several times. No fridge very noisy area. No coffee maker as advertised, just a kettle. Terrible TV reception.

Unable to communicate with the host. The room was accessed via an entrance and circular staircase. When you entered the entrance there were several floor tiles removed and a plumbing pit exposed which attracted 100's of flying bugs and a terrible smell. On ce you got into the room it was clean and towels etc were provided. We were expecting somewhere to sit as advertised however there was a bed and small refrigerator only. The electricity plug on one side of the bed was broken. We had to unplug the refrigerator to boil the kettle. There was one coffee cup provided for both of us. I rang the host who told me to message them via whatsapp which I did. I asked for a cup however we did not receive a reply. There was no mattress protector on the bed and the sheets were too small for the bed. Very disappointed.
