How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.

Verified reviewStaff was friendly and the internal space was really good. It was full of ants when we arrived but apart from that we found it clean.
We went to spend one night and the main thing was to find a good shower, a good bed and a clean place. The shower head was broken splashing water everywhere so we had to use the hose. It was very hard to adjust the temperature of the water which was either too cold or too hot which was a nightmare with the kids. Ants was also a problem and even tho the lovely host offered to fix the problem with spray, we didn’t want to spray poison as we would have our infant and toddler sleeping there right away.
Dear Madam, I'm glad you found the accommodation nice and clean. I apologize for the shower head, which was immediately replaced. Regarding the ants near the kitchen balcony, as you wrote, we wanted to intervene to resolve the problem, but you didn't want to. I'm sorry because we would have resolved it promptly. Unfortunately, with the heat, they can sometimes come out, even though the accommodation is in perfect order and cleanliness, as you noted. Verified reviewThe staff was super friendly and regularly asked if we needed anything else. We had accidentally not booked my daughter, but did not have to pay a surcharge on site. The location is very nice, but the metros are not optimal. We had made the mistake at first and dropped out at Mergellina. But you should drive to Leopardi because otherwise you have to walk through the car tunnel, which is neither healthy nor safe.

Verified reviewThe full sized apartment, including separate laundry, spacious lounge and bed rooms along with a large balcony were very surprising. All the facilities were first class and very modern, but the biggest surprises were the two televisions, which like most on offer, I have never seen in 40 years of international travel. But above all, the priceless Daniela is Residenza's most valuable asset. She is an absolute angel and should be beatified as the patron saint of travellers.

Room hygiene was horrible, ants and spiders everywhere. Bathroom was not clean. Air condition filters are probably not maintained, smelling awful. We cannot sleep because of noise and smell. We have been charged significant amount for a vacant parking spot, which was not mentioned before our arrival. It was a disaster and i honestly do not understand how other guesta rated high before.

The amount of the garage is indicated on booking and has a cost of €20.00 I personally checked your apartment before delivery and it was in perfect condition. In the conditions you describe I would not have slept and would have asked for the room to be cleaned or the room changed. Instead she used the apartment without any requests or complaints.

Verified reviewWhen we arrived the building was closed and there was no staff/reception available there to help us even though we were there before 12. We contacted them by whatsapp and they didn’t reply, we had to get help from locals to call her and finally let us in. If it wasn’t for the locals we would’ve been stuck much longer. However they gave us a larger apartment for compensation of this. The apartment had ants in the bathroom, they said they would give us a kettle however they did not even after requesting. The wifi would turn off randomly at night and would not turn back on, we had work to do however we couldn’t do it because of the wifi turning off for multiple hours.

Thinking of doing something pleasant, we have assigned you a larger accommodation. Upon arrival I spent a long time with you, we tried the wifi which worked and the accommodation was in perfect condition. You arrived very tired from driving from Florence and perhaps for this reason you were in a bad mood. The kitchen was perfectly equipped, I showed your wife the equipment including a saucepan as an alternative to the kettle and your wife told me it was suitable. Having an equipped kitchen, the kettle is not essential as in a hotel room, however if you had asked me I would have given it to you, but your wife considered the small saucepan that I showed her upon arrival and which we normally use to heat to be suitable. water for tea or chamomile or milk.
