How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

Verified reviewThe place is idyllic for relaxing in peace and enjoying nature and the scenery, with just a short walk from the center. The owners do everything with love and always with a big smile, especially the delicious breakfast on the terrace. Highly recommended, we are already looking forward to returning.
Nothing to highlight here.

Verified reviewThe property is in a fantastic location, within easy walking distance to the town. We really appreciated the communal kitchen, which made it easy to prepare lunches and snacks, and the breakfast each morning was excellent. However, we were disappointed to find that our room didn’t have a balcony—especially frustrating after travelling so far, when most other rooms did. The grass around the pool area was quite overgrown, and the walls were very thin—we could even hear someone coughing from two rooms away. Overall, a mostly pleasant stay, but a few things could be improved.

Verified reviewThis villa was one of the highlights of our 4 week trip around Europe. Set in the stunning, purely authentic Tuscan countryside, this villa provided the revival we needed after a hectic few days in Rome. All of the facilities were fantastic, our room had a lovely balcony and huge doors and windows letting lots of light into our room. The staff were all incredibly friendly and welcoming, and we loved the dogs Welma and Thor.
Only downside is being located down a hill, so we copped a decent walk before we secured a scooter

Verified reviewOur accomodation was set in a rural location a short walk from the town of Montepulciano. The room was of sufficient size and comfortable. There was a pool which was very much appreciated as some days during our stay were quite hot. The staff were amazing and very accommodating. The breakfast that was included was a particular highlight.

Verified reviewThe setting and location are dreamy! The accommodation is rustic yet tasteful, and the surroundings feel like something out of a movie set. The hospitality was truly exceptional. The owners have created a very homey and welcoming environment. They are warm, easygoing, and make you feel right at home. The atmosphere is serene, and they give you the freedom to relax however you like—whether it's roaming the grounds, enjoying the pool, or unwinding in the beautiful common areas. The location is just a 10–15 minute walk to town, and Montepulciano definitely lives up to expectations! I would absolutely stay here again.
Bathrooms are really basic and small.

Verified reviewAntonella was lovely and made us feel right at home in this stunning estate. Such a dream stay with a large comfortable room and stunning pool. The AC was very useful to have in the 30 degree Tuscan heat but due to the big windows in the room we didn’t need it.

Verified reviewWe absolutely enjoy our stay. Location is perfect. Manageable to walk to the old town, bus station and big Conad supermarket. The stone house is very cute, renovated the old furniture in new usage. I like the classroom study desk in our room. The host family is very welcoming and friendly. Antonella is very helpful to give us recommendations of sighting and restaurant. Breakfast is home-made traditional Italian breakfast. Enough varieties and choices. Highly recommend to stay at least 2 nights. We got no time to enjoy the pool and the peace there.

Breakfast could be improved - maybe a choice in the savoury / sweet options?

Verified reviewWe really enjoyed our stay here. Breakfast was in an outdoor courtyard with many options. The room was comfortable and well decorated. The pool and gardens well maintained. Great views over olive groves & and the property is straight onto a lovely walk along vineyards! 10 minute walk (uphill) to the centre of town, which always felt completely safe (we even saw loads of glow worms!). Easy parking. Lovely birdsong the whole time. I’d recommend staying here.
Nothing, everything was perfect

Verified reviewLoved the charming Tuscan buildings, the views, the feeling of calm & relaxation amongst the walnut & cypress trees. Our room had a balcony & also opened out onto a shared kitchenette which was a bonus as you could prepare a picnic/teas/coffees. The house-made olive oil from the farm!! Loved the pool, the breakfast on the terrace & the proximity to the historic centre of Montepulciano (a stroll up the hill maybe 10 mins). The whole atmosphere was so chill - the ladies of the property were all super friendly and helpful, and the way that the different rooms were laid out meant you had your own personal space but could also meet other guests and chat if you wanted to.
