Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United KingdomRoom was a bit small next time we would choose a bigger room
The staff where very helpful and friendly ready to answer any concerns we had warning us about the pickpockets around Rome which was really helpful as another guest staying there wasn’t so lucky would highly recommend this place as it’s central to all the locations you will be wanting to visit during your stay

United KingdomIf, like me you dislike busy decor and excessive clutter this hotel may not be for you. From weaving through the check in area without a spare foot of floor space to an exceptionally crammed room with not an inch to spare. I Wasn’t impressed having to feed the family for breakfast every morning from the vast variety of meats, cakes, yoghurts, breads, etc etc in the fridge supplied. I was impressed with the unique toaster that accepted two bun halves and two hot dogs at the same time !! Our son enjoyed the massage chair squeezed between the beds daily but it was just something else to stub my little toe on.
Friendly check in and welcome, plenty of food options and cooking methods in your room, but no breakfast service.

United KingdomThe property was in a brilliant location close to everything within walking distance including mini-marts, bars & restaurants. A beautiful, old, Italian building with quintessential decor throughout. It’s extremely secure and the front desk is manned 24/7. The bed & pillows in the room were really comfortable and there was a massage chair & foot massager which we definitely made use of after long days walking around the city. The room has an array of food items all included within the price so you don’t have to worry about breakfast / snacks including meats, cheeses, fruit, yoghurts, coffee, croissants, bread etc. Upon arrival we were gifted a bottle of wine and upon leaving a lovely artisan bag of pasta! The staff were so friendly and warm which made the whole experience 5*. We would recommend to anyone visiting Rome for an authentic and homely stay.

United StatesWay too much decor, stuffed into the common areas- made it very hard to move around and relax in those areas. I know the breakfast was set up in the room to make it possible to have breakfast because I don’t see anywhere else it could be served. Personally, I don’t eat a lot of packaged goods, so I was rather disappointed, not having the opportunity to have eggs every day.
The staff was amazing - especially the lady! Loved her! The location was great. Decor made it feel authentic

United StatesWell this is just personal issue but it’s up 4 flights of stairs and no elevator and I’m not exactly able to haul a full suitcase upstairs but the staff were wonderful and organized our luggage to our room (more stairs😢) and that’s my only thing if you are not physically able to do stairs this is not for you. That’s my only negative
Everyone was so nice and kind and helpful. Staff get a definite 10. It’s a very quirky property which we really liked. So tired of being in bland hotels. We knew before going that the description said there would be snacks /food in the room but Wow we had a fridge stocked with meat ,cheeses drinks bottle of prosecco puddings hot dog cooker the works .We were there 3 nights and it was even restocked on our second day. We arrived early and our room was ready. We had a full lunch spread in our room. Real old fashioned hospitality. Yes the room was small but center of Rome so we expected this but it had everything and bathroom super modern.

United StatesHotel was incredible! Our room was beautiful, the location was great with major attractions just walking distance away. The mini fridge was stocked daily with many snacks and drinks to choose from all included in the price of the room. The AC and massage chair in room were perfect to come back to after walking around the city all day. The best part of the hotel is the exceptional staff, very kind, helpful and welcoming. I would recommend this hotel to anybody and would definitely stay here again next time I’m in the beautiful city of Rome!

Saudi ArabiaA Unique Roman Experience. Staying at Hotel Barrett was truly a unique experience. The location is unbeatable—just steps away from Rome’s top attractions, amazing restaurants, and public transportation. The complimentary breakfast and all-day snacks were a wonderful touch. After long days exploring the city, the in-room massage chair was a game changer—it helped us relax and reenergize for the next day. Highly recommended for anyone looking for comfort, convenience, and a touch of luxury in the heart of Rome

Everyone was so kind! The rooms were small but clean and had everything we needed. The stocked mini fridge and espresso machine were amazing. The location was perfect, about a 10 minute walk to the Trevi fountain and about 15 minutes to the Colosseum. Air conditioning worked decently well for a 90 degree temps!

TurkeyThe cleanliness of the sheets could have been better. Also, the city tax is collected in cash, and we were only informed of this at check-in. It would have been helpful to know in advance, preferably while booking, as I might not have brought cash with me otherwise.
The hotel is within walking distance of the Pantheon, Trevi Fountain, and Spanish Steps, which is very convenient. Having breakfast in the comfort of your room is a wonderful feature. The minibar is restocked daily with coffee capsules, snacks, and fruit. The gentlemen at the reception are extremely friendly and show great hospitality—they even gifted us a pack of pasta at checkout. I also really appreciated that the beds were firm rather than too soft; it’s much better for the back and made for a comfortable sleep. The in-room massage machine for your back and feet is a fantastic touch. After a long day of walking around Rome, it’s a real relief to come back and enjoy a relaxing massage.
