How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

Verified reviewWe wanted to go to the CWGC cemeteries in the area so we chose this hotel as the location was between the two. Breakfast was OK although the coffee was not up to the standard you expect from an Italian hotel. Staff were polite and cheerful.
It's decor was very old fashioned and the bedroom had carpet with lots of unidentifiable marks and stains. It felt like an English hotel from late 1970s/early 1980s!! We could see past that but it might not be too everyone's taste.

Verified reviewThe staff is absolutely great! They are always there to help you and advice where to find what you need. And just to chat in the evening. The hotel also has a pool but pls mind the Booking price does not include the pool (which was a surprise to us). The room is good, although requires some improvements and fresher bed linens. They clean it daily, so it is wonderful specially when you return from the beach and bring all the sand home. There is also Glovo delivery, so we have ordered some food once. Fruit are sold everywhere, so you will certainly enjoy the season. We have then learned about the bus traveling right from the hotel to the city center (4 min drive, use their local app to buy tickets and check the schedule). So we moved our leisure time to the Dea Fortuna beach. In the city center, they offer more meal options, some sights, and wonderful beach facilities.
We lacked some tourist facilities in the location (cafes, restaurants, stores, pharmacies are too far away, and they are closed till 4-5 pm or simply don't work (don't trust Google map). And the hotel serves only breakfasts. There is a supermarket just 8 min walk, which is good because you have no other places around for a snack or meal. You'll find a small fridge in a room, which is good, so you can have cold water and a yogurt all the time. But you won't have a pot or microwave in a room to warm it or make some tea, so it was all the time a struggle to find where to eat (or at least to bite). And of course no cup to have a drink and no spoon to eat yogurt, etc. These small improvements would make the stay more comfortable.

Verified reviewReception greeting was very good, helpful and informative. Room attended to every day and kept clean Pool area was quite clean with good beds and umbrellas. Pool bar/cafe was OK too
Not made clear that breakfast and pool had to be paid for up front, no option for room charges. Shower wasnt the cleanest - grouting black and shower head attachments not fully working. No facilities to make drink in room. Hotel had a bar, but only served wine. Other drinks (G&T classed as cocktail) had to be purchased from pool bar which closed at about 1900hrs

Verified reviewNice location! Friendly staff, good janitors. Beautiful garden, fair breakfast for six euros (hot coffee station ). Large vintage styled room. Very clean room, bathroom, fresh linen, good set of toiletries. Large dining and living rooms decorated with vintage artifacts. Beach is a 10 minutes walk, train station is also a 10 minutes walk. Nearby supermarket, restaurants are all within few minutes of reach.
The swimming pool has still not started off for this year yet, so could only see the large open air pool but without water. The hot water system in the bathroom can be a bit whimsical ;) Hot water is interrupted with cold water frequently for seconds, which while taking shower is not the best thing one can expect. Now, for me Vintage style always have a positive charm and i like it. However, many might feel it to be outdated. Some things can be made better for instance The TV is too small for the large room( room is really large) and one can upgrade it to at least 45-50inches. The soundproofing can be done as every footstep or calls noises from neighbouring rooms and hallways are audible. It takes minimum effort to soundproof the hotel room doors to keep intact the privacy and prevent the halway noise. Finally, the hotels comes with staircase and without elevator for people on wheelchair or walking/lifting difficulties can be quite a problem. I was for a weekend trip and got my room in the 1st floor so everything was fine to carry the small luggage a few steps. But for elderly, or infirm it might be challenging.
