How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.

Verified reviewLovely hotel which was definitely luxury. The views were stunning and the whole surroundings were relaxing and tranquil. Rooms have balcony’s/terrace looking out to Ravello and it’s stunning scenery. The pool area is really quaint with a good number of sunbeds and parasols for the guests. The customer service was outstanding. All the staff were highly attentive wanting to make our stay enjoyable and comfortable. It was the best and most friendly customer service we had on the Amalfi coast. We did the wine tasting experience which was excellent, the newly renovated wine cellar is lovely and with all the food pricing and personable experience it was thoroughly enjoyable. The views from the restaurant are beautiful and a perfect setting for breakfast. It was a lovely relaxing and luxury end to our trip.
There wasn’t anything major at all just maybe a few more options at the pool bar for lunch would have been nice as well as being able to self serve your own eggs in the morning and have them already cooked up. Otherwise I can’t fault a thing

The level of hospitality here is simply unmatched. The staff are not only professional and attentive but also genuinely thoughtful, often surprising us with small, personalized gifts and gestures throughout our stay—whether it was a hand-written note, fresh fruit, or a sweet local treat left in our room. These little touches made us feel incredibly special and taken care of. The property itself is absolutely breathtaking. Set in the peaceful town of Scala, it offers spectacular views of the Amalfi Coast without the crowds of nearby Ravello. It was the perfect place to relax and recharge between wedding events and sightseeing. We appreciated being slightly removed from the tourist bustle—Scala offers serenity, authenticity, and charm. Our room was newly renovated, beautifully designed, and immaculately clean, blending modern comfort with classic Italian elegance. Everything from the linens to the lighting felt intentionally curated. The common areas of the hotel—like the gardens, terraces, and pool—are equally stunning and well-maintained. Verified reviewThis Hotel is set into the hills and in a pedestrian area. The staff were quick to arrive where we parked and moved our luggage to the hotel, the views are incredible and the rooms lovely and clean, the staff cannot do enough to help make your stay delightful and the food in the restaurant is delicious.
This hotel does not have a carpark so if you are arriving by car, be aware that you will park on the road in allocated spaces. The Hotel makes you aware of this and is there to help, this is common of all the Hotels in the area as they are set in the hills.

Verified reviewThe hotel is really nice, Located at Scala which is 15 minutes away by a taxi or a bike to Amalfi beaches and center. You can still go down the hell with your feet but it will be a 30 minutes stairs journey. Food, Facilities and staff were excellent.

Verified reviewStaff were incredible. Insanely beautiful views. Complimentary champagne and decorated for our celebration. Robes and slippers were nice touch. Restaurant was delicious with amazing staff. Comfortable, large bed. We felt and were treated like luxury! Front desk staff were so helpful gave us recommendations and links to book travel to our next location. Baggage service was nice as well.
Location was great for a day trip to ravello and other cities. It isn’t walking distance from any restaurant or tourist spots. 10 min drive to ravello was nice. Drivers are available quickly too which helped.

service was quite bad. its our second time at this hotel, 5 years ago the service was amazing this year it was horrible, long wait for food, no one serving at the pool area, you had to go and chase waitresses. they charge for water in the room which I feel its a necessity not a luxury. the manager was very good and reception staff but the rest not really. I Would NOT get back at this hotel unless they change the service
