How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

Verified reviewClean, comfortable, and well-priced in a prime location. The breakfast is excellent and well worth the price. Communication was polite and efficient and the remote access for afterhours check in is well thought through and easy to use. I would definitely stay again if I'm ever lucky enough to return to Lecce.
It's not really something to improve upon, more so something that could be clarifed better. The breakfast must be ordered in advance to avoid food waste (send a message before arrival if getting in late). It's possible I missed it but seems like it could be stated more clearly.

Verified reviewEverything! So convenient to everything we wanted to see and be close to. The room was extremely comfortable, super clean like the rest of the property. In a wonderfully quiet cul de sac. Also loved the restaurants just downstairs, highly recommend both, owned by same local restaurant group. We only had breakfast the last day at the Palazzo Tolomei, but regretted that because it was superb! The terrace where breakfast was served was gorgeous. All the staff we encountered were outstanding, most of all Barbara, at the helm of the place.
Absolutely nothing.

Verified reviewHad a very comfortable stay. Hotel was located in the old town and was conveniently located and easy access to everything. Room was very comfortable. Whilst being centrally located the hotel was on a quiet little street. It was the height of summer so parking was difficult on the street but there is a parking garage 10-15 minute walk away that costs 25 euro for 24 hours. The management were very accommodating and allowed me to check in earlier. I also left something behind and they very kindly sent it on For me which I greatly appreciated. Highly recommend for a stay in Lecce.

Verified reviewBarbara , the manager, was very obliging and friendly. Nothing was any bother. We opted for the breakfast each morning. We got an exceptional breakfast from fantastic staff members, Katia and Monica. We can't praise all of them enough for the great service they gave. It made our holiday for us. We liked tea making facilities in room. Air conditioning worked well. Great Central location. Beautiful artwork in the hallway ( but none in the bedroom??? .... why? We liked old furniture used throughout.
Slight smell from bathroom sometimes- like sewage smell. Bedroom walls were bare. We think they needed simple pictures or other features to add to decor. Room was modest in size.

No lift, when you have luggage, can be a problem.

Verified reviewIt was very clean and Barbara and the staff were very helpful. Although we did not have the breakfast it was lovely to be able to use the terrace and enjoy having a drink and a sit down . Another lovely gesture was getting free bottles of water every day . Great location and would highly recommend staying there .
The only thing I could fault it was a bit noisy when we left the door to the balcony open to enjoy the beautiful breeze.

Verified reviewPalazzo dei Tolomei is very centrally located in the old city. It is beautifully maintained with great pride. The beds were very comfortable, the shower was hot and powerful, the bed linen was quality. Breakfast out on the roof top was stunning, as was just being able to sit out there at any time. The breakfast was very generous, delicious and beautifully presented. The staff were exceptional and Barbara, was extremely helpful with organising a taxi, getting our laundry done. A high quality place to stay
Our room tended to get quite warm being on the top floor. The air con was fine but a fan would have been a bonus.

Verified reviewthe suite was very confortable and the service was great. We had a very warm welcome from the staff
There are restaurants/bars and some people passing by at night making lot of noise so earplug are recommended. There is no lift to access the room, it can be difficult to carry luggage. Don’t expect much light in the rooms as it’s an old renovated building with small windows facing walls.

Verified reviewThe location is in the city center and close to all the attractions, restaurants, and train station for convenience. The rooms are comfortable and clean, though a bit small. The property is beautiful as well as the terrace on the rooftop. Barbara is a very sweet and hospitable host, she makes your stay more pleasurable. Good value for your money.
During the weekend, the area can be a little noisy at night due to the clubs and restaurants nearby but nothing too bothersome.

No personal welcome after 6pm and unfortunately the coded entry system didn’t work . Barbara the hostess was delightful when I messaged and she let us in .
