How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

Verified reviewWe had a great stay in st Pietro in Lama. The hospitality from Antonella was great. She always responded quickly and had some great tips. We had a very spacious appartment. We had a lot of privacy which was perfect because we have two little children. And last but not least the garden. Perfect to get the right “zen” vacation mood. We will recommend this stay to everyone. The village it’s like a movie scene, some real Italian vibes!
When you book this stay, you have to know that you are situated in San Pietro in Lama, just 12 minutes away from Lecce by car.

Verified reviewI had the pleasure of staying in this extraordinary historic residence, where every detail evokes the charm of a bygone era. From the moment you enter, you feel transported back in time. The room was exceptionally spacious, impeccably clean, and adorned with elegant period details. The Wi-Fi was excellent, and the breakfast, abundant, delicious and of high-quality local ingredients. The garden, with its beauty, felt like a scene from a fairytale, perfectly in harmony with the historic soul of the property. Heartfelt thanks to the owners for their warm and gracious hospitality.

Verified reviewThe palazzo and especially the garden have a special vibe. The hosts were very welcoming and their renovation project really showed great taste and interest for the comfort of guests. The breakfast was also very good.
Everything was excellent but if i were to mention one area of improvement it would be the phonic isolation.

Verified reviewWe adored the palazzo. Beautiful and sympathetically renovated huge rooms within an old, partly-renovated palazzo. The old un-renovated sections add to the atmosphere and the huge garden is stunning and unexpected. Good breakfast - would love to have visited no the warmer months when breakfast is served in the garden. Great location in centre of small town within a short drive of Lecce and perfect for exploring Salanto. Owners were welcoming and very helpful.
Nothing at all, it surpassed our expectations.

Verified reviewGood sized property in a little satellite village just outside Lecce, making it very easy to get into the historical centre by car in less than 10 minutes. The breakfast was very good and changed slightly every day to keep you interested, and was taken on a covered terrace overlooking the garden. The parking was easy to find on the street when we visited in October. There is an excellent restaurant in the village Cantina Don Carlo where we ate most nights
The church bells are quite loud in the morning but didn’t start until 7am so we treat them as an alarm call for getting up for breakfast so it didn’t spoil our stay. You need a car to stay here.

Verified reviewThe service of Antonella and Simona was excellent, the location close to Lecce was excellent, the room is very well designed and pleasant to stay.
The breakfast was nice, and seemingly had everything needed, but it seems that the place is still in the stages of being organized for hosting, and things seem a bit improvised. I think the breakfast standard can be raised, so that it matches the level of the accommodation and the standard in similar places. Beyond that, the place is still in the process of renovation and it was worth noting this in the booking process.

Verified reviewStarting with the position of property in San Pietro in Lama, to the apartment we were in, the environment and garden and surroundings, I dont know how to explain how lucky we were to found this kind of apartment. Everything was perfect for us!
Nothing, for us, every bit of our stay there was perfect.

Verified reviewWe booked a suite and the room was lovely with high ceilings -Lounge,bedroom and small drinks area with fridge. Shower room . The gardens were lovely with hammocks and we didn’t struggle to park. An Italian style breakfast was provided . The owners and staff were very helpful.
Loungers in the garden would have been nice to chill out - hammocks not ideal for older people. The location /village had no facilities that were open when we needed them. No convenience store or local bar to get a snack or drink. You need to go via a supermarket so you have provisions . The location was good as close to networks for Lecce and Galopoli.

Verified reviewA beautiful palace, with a strong spirit of the past, the apartment is modernly renovated and fully equipped, the owner, Mrs Antonella and her husband are great (they sent us a series of links with recommendations for tours, restaurants, etc.) The most impressive garden with centuries-old trees, flowers, oranges, absolutely zen atmosphere

Verified reviewWe stayed in the ground floor apartment, the original stone walls and features are beautiful. It was very comfortable with everything we needed to prepare our own meal a couple of times. The bed is very comfortable. We were able to park our car right outside the apartment without issue. There are shops and restaurants within close walking distance. The host family is wonderful and very responsive. There were delicious pastries supplied each day as well as many other food items to make our stay more comfortable. I would definitely return if I stay in Lecce again.
Nothing, it was all great.

Verified reviewPalazzo de Carlo is spacious, elegant, comfortable and well-located. Antonella and Sergio are wonderful and helpful hosts. The setting is expansive and very peaceful - the photos don't do it justice. It was very convenient to park and get in and out of town, whether into Lecce or to any part of the coast of Salento. I happily extended by stay and would gladly stay again

Verified reviewEverything Palazzo de Carlo has to offer was beyond perfect and way more we expected. The rooms were classy, super clean and spacious. The whole building is truly amazing and we couldn't believe how beautiful the garden was. We loved the breakfast with fresh orange juice, pasticiotto and other italian specialities in der garden and we and the kids had an amazing time there. But on top of all these perfect things were Antonella und Sergio. The were the sweetest and kindest hosts we ever had on our travel destinations. They had loads of amazing tips for beaches, restaurants and festivals around that time and area and we made so much good experiences. We definitely want to come back soon because Palazzo de Carlo felt like home away from home.
Everthing was absolutly perfect!
