How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

Verified reviewWe had such a wonderful stay at this property! The place was clean, comfortable, and in a perfect location for exploring the area. Everything was well prepared and thoughtfully arranged, which made us feel at home from the very first moment. Our host, Dalilala, was absolutely amazing – warm, welcoming, and always happy to help with anything we needed. Her kindness and attention to detail made our stay truly special. We’re so grateful for her hospitality and would happily return again. Highly recommended!

Verified reviewThe location was wonderful and very easy to go to attractions nearby.
We booked a quadruple room, which was a queen bed and 2 twin beds all within the same room. Not what we expected with traveling with our 2 adult children. The A/C also is on a motion sensor so when we were not in the room, it would turn off, so when we returned it was hot in the room and took time to cool down.
Dear Guest, Thank you for your review and for choosing to spend your holiday in Rome with us. As the name suggests, the quadruple room is designed to accommodate four guests and includes either four single beds or a king bed with two twin beds, along with one bathroom. The motion sensor for the A/C is part of our eco-friendly system, but it can be deactivated using the display in the room. We hope to welcome you again in the future. Kind regards, Andrea

Verified reviewVery nice hotel close to Spanish steps and piazza di Popolo. Cozy room that had everything we needed and with good air conditioning which was crucial after a long day walking in the city. Breakfast was very good with freshly prepared pastries and fruits besides the usual eggs, ham, etc. Staff were very friendly and accommodating, always greeting us with a smile.
I was expecting a bigger room as shown on the pictures. The description did say it was 13 m2 but still I felt misled. Another thing I did not like was that the pillows were too high. This of course is my personal experience - it may be perfect for other visitors.
Dear Mrs. Petya, Thank you for your beautiful review. In every room we have a good air conditioning and air cleaner too, from the deluxe rooms. The breakfast has a big choise of food made at home. Kind regards, Andrea

I can't think of a thing that would have made our stay any better. The rooms were comfortable and the "special" coffees at breakfast were a nice surprise.

We had 2 rooms. One was just fine , but in the others, there was something in the room that the minute we opened the door, we’d get sick- we’d start sneezing and our eyes would itch and tear.
Dear Tracy, Thank you for your review. The Hotel Manfredi is located in the lovely Via Margutta. We have all rooms with moquette unless four rooms with the regoular floor. For the next time we kindly ask you to write in the special note if some guest in your party has some allergic form so we can find a solution. Hope to see you again. Kind regards, Andrea

Verified reviewWhat a gorgeous little Hotel, sitting elegantly (and very proudly) on one of the prettiest streets in glorious Roma. The rooms are styled with wonderful antique furniture and the walls are lined in rich fabric wallpaper! You’d swear you were in a Roman mini Castle The breakfast was utterly superb. Staff were all very very nice (for example!!) my room looked out onto a courtyard and I felt a little glum, but before I knew it BOOM! A new room, with a view plus some chocolates!
I liked everything!

I honestly feel as though I was tricked or lied to by the reviews/ I’m unsure if the reviews of this hotel are fake or what how this place has such good reviews, but this was no better than the 2-star hotel I stayed at before this. The pictures look phenomenal, and because of this I nearly cried of sadness when I walked in. I can always trust reviews, and this is the first time I was truly shocked by the mismatch of the reality and what’s online. This hotel is posted as a LUXURY boutique hotel with the best services, but it is nothing even close to that. You have to find the right button to buzz outside the building (like an apartment), and there is no reception when you walk into the building. This space is also shared by various different hotels and when buzzed into another floor there is another hotel, very odd. There is no one to help with bags and no bellhop. When we arrived the first day, I was so confused where to go when we walked into the empty building. After walking in and searching around, we saw on the left there is a sign that said reception is on the third floor, so I went up and left my mom and disabled father downstairs. I finally found the receptionist and asked for his help to use the old elevator and he rolled his eyes. I was so confused how we should bring my disabled dad up with our suitcases. He was so annoyed and did not help us with the bags. I was absolutely baffled. We also reserved the deluxe triple suite and… we were incredibly disappointed. The room was advertised as being 236 ft², but upon walking in, I realized it was so much smaller than the hotel we just came from which was advertised as the same exact size. We measured it and it was 144 ft². I very kindly brought up to the attendant that this is nothing like what was shown in the pictures, and he came with a measuring tape (embarrassing), which proved the room was 9 x 13 ft. That’s when he apologized and was kind but said there’s nothing we can do about it.
Dear Miss Zahra, We are sorry that your experience with our Hotel was not pleasant. As a customer you are entitled to express your opinion but it does not give you the right to claim that the reviews of other clients are false. Our Hotel has been operating in this business for more than 45 years and with the hard work of the staff and management, we have built quite a solid reputation. We are happy that more than 99% of clients have had a different experience and opinion of our establishment which differs from the one you have descibed above. As a three star Hotel, we take pride for the services we provide, that often exceed the category. According to our staff, during your two day stay they followed many of your requests which were not denied and were actually followed with professionlism and kindness. Now, to reply on your affirmations above; the receptionist that made the check in affirms that after your initial difficulty in finding the reception (which is locate on the third floor of a historical building 400 years old ), he came downstairs with the elevator and helped you and your family with the luggage. He than gave you the information regarding the location of the Hotel (Piazza di Spagna) and gave you advice for sightseeing options and best place for shopping. He also accompanied you to your room on the second floor. The size of the room is compliant with the room typology that you had reserved (triple deluxe). The size of the room also includes the bathroom. There are also bigger rooms that can accomodate three persons, like the Junior Suites and the Suites, but they were not the room type you had reserved and they come with a different price tag. We are sorry that you were so harsh on your review because you were not happy with the size of the room and which we found a bit exagerrated, but we also feel that it is not correct to ignore the help and services we have provided you (like allowing to have a late breakfast exceeding the breakfast schedule or helping your father when he was left alone in the breakfast room, among other things. As an Hotel we do not pretend to be perfect, but we also would like clients to be honest and just with their reviews, and we believe yours was too harsh and exagerated with the only purpose to damage our reputation. Kind regards Francesco Argentina Hotel Manager
