How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

Verified reviewPersonnel was great and did really bend over backwards to manage any request we may have. We were offered a free room upgrade and while the basic double room was a bit too small, the upgraded suite was spacious and featured two large balconies. Free parking is also available just in front of the hotel.
Some aspects would need improvement, but the overall experience was good.

Verified reviewThe hotel is spotless and ideally located in the old town. It has beautiful architecture with old history and charm. We were greeted warmly by friederica who was like our own personal tour guide.she was was very knowledgeable about the local history and shared some lovely sites to visit. We will certainly be back.
The aircon was not working which made the room very hot, however this was easily sorted with a fan, also there is limited spaces to park outside the hotel which is first come first serve but the staff were very helpful to find other spaces

Verified reviewThe true highlight of my stay at L'Arcangelo was the staff. Federica was so warm and welcoming, she gave me an excellent itinerary for a walking tour of Taranto and gave me a perfect recommendation for dinner--she really made my stay a delight. There was also a lovely tea service at check in. The location is an easy 10 min walk to Taranto Centrale bus/train station and about 10 or 15 mins walk to the new town section if the old town shops and restaurants are not sufficient. I loved the view from the balcony over the old buildings while enjoying the comfort of the renovated room. What a perfect little stay!

Verified reviewFabio was fabulous! He welcomed us explained the area and gave us a glass of wine. The room was great with a lovely balcony. The water pressure in the bathroom was very strong ! The toilet seat was broken in our room but there was a fridge and tea and coffee making facilities. Breakfast was ok. Mostly continental choices . The hotel is nice but Taranto historical area isn’t.
Not the best area to be in until all renovations have been completed

Verified reviewGreat staff and customer service. Very friendly. Spotlessly clean and great buffet breakfast.
The only slight problem was that our shower tray didn’t drain away properly so filled up. The water was piping hot though so that was good

Verified reviewA very enjoyable stay in this boutique hotel and there was parking nearby. We were given a welcome drink and cake on arrival on the terrace and the staff were very friendly and helpful. Breakfast was delicious and served in a delightful breakfast room. We had a super meal the night before in the fish restaurant across the square.
The room was a little bit smaller than we expected and the town was a bit of a disappointment being run down and very scruffy in certain areas.

Verified reviewVery charming hotel in Piazza Fontana, which is located at the Northern end of the historic old town and a stones thrown from the fishing port. My room was beautiful with a cute balcony overlooking the square, but there was also access to a very pretty roof terrace. The staff were all extremely helpful and professional, but a special mention goes to Fabio who was amazing. Location was great for wandering around the old town, I particularly enjoyed walking around the island with all of the fishing boats on one side and the sea wall and rocks on the other and then wandering down Via Duomo for some great seafood. Taranto is a fascinating town with so much history. Yes, it is a little run down and there are quite a lot of derelict buildings, but that just somehow adds to the charm. The churches were beautiful, the Castle was absolutely beautiful and the street art incredible. And, excellent gelato too I would recommend L'Arcangelo to anyone visiting Taranto and would very happily return given the opportunity.

Verified reviewThe room we stayed in on the second floor had two balconies, each with an excellent view, especially of the clock tower. The hotel is very well managed and maintained. A staff person is on hand 24 hours. That is rare, and well-appreciated. The location is on the edge of the historic town, minutes away from what is the most authentic city in Puglia. It was especially nice to wake up and have a full breakfast, with eggs, sausage, ham, cheese, yogurt, cereals, pastries and delicious coffee and juice. We're happy we stayed at this classy hotel. Thank you.

Verified reviewSuperb location overlooking Piazza Fontana, close to the Old Town and the Ponte di Porta Napoli bridge.
Unusual room layout involving bedroom and bathroom at different levels with difficult stairway giving access.
