Silent, spacious, fully accessorised, has an heartwarming atmosfere; it's at the fringe of the most beautiful part of the sasso caveoso, and it's close to all of the vibrant little spots for aperitivo and dinner, as well as shopping opportunities and monuments visits. One of my ever fav accommodations.

Upon arrival we received a very cordial welcome by Luciana as we were friends. She gave us an introduction to Old Matera and recommended various walking tours in the Centro Storico. The room and its bathroom were very spacious. The view from the little terrace in front of the room on Old Matera was outstanding. Morning breakfast was varied and lovingly prepared.

The location is wonderful right in the middle of the Sassi with a view. We walked everywhere easily. The room was clean and comfortable with a fridge, washing machine and spacious bathroom. What really makes this place is the warmth and generosity of the host Luciana. She went out of her way to make our stay special from before we arrived to the last morning's conversation over her sensational breakfast. For us she embodied the spirit of Matera.

Getting our bags from parking to her house was challenging because you have to walk on cobbled streets/sidewalks. Her house is in the historic zone, so no cars. But honestly, it is worth it for the location.

Luciana was a delight. We appreciate her efforts to provide a comfortable stay and give us insight as to what there is to see & do in the old town. Our room was quite comfortable, breakfast was more than we could eat. We will be back.

The fantastic room was wonderful, as well as a balcony with our table and chairs. We were with a couple and a friend with her daughter. The beds were super, the bathroom was beautiful and large, and viewing the situation was incredible. Each breakfast was delicious and Luciana was delightful!

My daughter and I had a lovely stay here for two nights! The room is very lovely and a spacious size, as well as the bathroom. The bed is comfortable and such a treat to have a duvet! A perfect location to explore Matera. Above all else, Luciana is the warmest host and we felt very welcome. We loved our delicious breakfasts on the patio. Nothing to dislike - it was perfect!

This was the most beautiful accommodation in a wonderful town. Luciana is the perfect host - so friendly and welcoming. Provided lots of information when we arrived on where to go and what to see. Luciana’s breakfast was amazing, prepared with love and delivered to the room. The view from the room and balcony is just amazing - perfect spot to start the day with breakfast and even more stunning in the late afternoon and early evening. I could have sat there all day! Room extremely comfortable and a great shower.

Can't think of anything that should be improved really. It was as described, even better.

The breakfast brought by the host each morning was excellent. Kept me going for the whole day, really. The location in the middle of the oldest parts of Matera was excellent. Very quiet area, obviously no car traffic nearby. Very friendly host. Warm water supply was good.

That I booked only a two-night stay! It was very hard to leave such a wonderful place!

Il Sasso e la Seta is in a great location, with an expansive view of the neighborhood. In the early morning it is pure joy to just sit in the open doorway, bask in the sunshine, and listen to church bells and birds and feel the town come to life. The breakfasts (as frequently noted in many, many reviews!) are splendid -- made with love in a bountiful array of savory and sweet. The room is very comfortable and feels like a friend's home, with thoughtful touches of original art. Superb!

Access is quite difficult if you have mobility issues - but this is Matera!

Luciana could not have done more to make our stay ultra enjoyable. She is a delightful, lively person. Our room had real character; the air-conditioning worked very well - it was very hot outside; lovely shower room.

The view is amazing and it's not just that you can walk to the nice places at the Sassi, you're right in the middle of it. Is Sasso e la Seta is 10++. It is in an amazing location in the old Matera. The views were spectacular. The room was delightful. But the gem is the hostess Luciana. From our first meaning after being lost in the city (google map was having a moment!) to her wonderful insight of her beloved town and her tour suggestions, restaurant suggestions (Keiv was one of our best meals on a 18 day trip) and her breakfasts! Perfection! Especially her home made marmalade. We so enjoyed our visits with her at breakfast. She is a fascinating woman with a heart of gold. Your stay here will be a highlight of your trip!

Location of the property was perfect for exploring the historic town. The property was full of character and perfect for our needs. Lucianna was an excellent host who made us a lovely breakfast each morning. She gave us lots recommendations of where to go and where to eat one of which was The Keiv which gave us great food, location and service.
