How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

Verified reviewThe apartment was a great size with a large sitting/bedroom with comfy sofas and another office off that room. The office had storage for clothes a small fridge and a small table with a kettle and tea cups. The apartment looked over a church on the street side and a lovely internal courtyard. The apartment comes with air-conditioning in the main sitting/bedroom. The linen is also fantastic and 100% cotton. The apartment is very accessible to the historic centre and there is free parking within a 2 minute walk.
The tiny bathroom was not what we expected and very difficult to use. The entire bathroom is the shower there is a rain shower in the middle of the ceiling. 2 shower curtain are used to minimise the water going everywhere. This does not work at all. When you are showering your legs are pressed up against the toilet. The entire room floods with water when the shower is in use. To dry yourself you need to stand in the office area. The bathroom is also entirely wet as the water takes time to drain. If you need to use the toilet or sink both are covered in water. For us this was a safety issue as well as being very inconvenient. The electrics are to close to the water source and even the toilet paper is sat on a radiator outside the bathroom. There is also the potential of a fall as the bathroom needs at least an hour to dry out. It also also important to note that the 1 bed in the room in not a bed but a fold out sofa that is so hard and uncomfortable we chose to sleep on the 2 sofas. I want to add that the host did listen to our concerns and tried to resolve the issues a mop and bucket were provided for the bathroom and a mattress topper was ordered for the bed.

Verified reviewThe breakfast was amazing, local produce laid out on the terrace for us each morning by Tiziana and her family. A highlight of every day! We also got some great advice about local trips over breakfast as we chatted. Tizania also arranged a fabulous local taxi for us for an early morning trip to the airport, as well as sending us a link to book bus tickets from the airport when we arrived and had more time to be adventurous. Furthermore she very kindly invited us into her home to view the Easter parade from her balcony overlooking the street which was a real treat, especially for my wife.
Thanks for your wonderful review that expresses the essence of our hospitality. See you some other time! Tiziana and Roberto

Verified reviewMy wife and I really enjoyed our stay in Marsala. The B&B is in a beautifully maintained older home. A very nice breakfast was served each morning on a terrace overlooking the courtyard. What was most appreciated was Tiziana's advice and help in seeing some of the local tourist attractions.
Thanks John. It is a pleasure to help our guests to find hidden treasure in our town and in Sicily, authentic places and interesting persons to know. See you some other time!

Verified reviewThe location, the palace building which was gorgeous and rustic and the room was absolutely beautiful. I adored my stay and Maria and Tiziana. I would love to return here! In fact, I would live here if I could!
Thanks Andrew! It has been hard to renovate this fascinating building in a typical sicilian courtyard, but we could do it thanks to ones like you that appreciate it! Some incredible plants live here and give to us the sense of relax and calm even if in the middle of town. Come some other time and I will help a way to live in Sicily! ciao from Tiziana and Maria.

Verified reviewBreakfast was delicious and lots of fresh produce to choose from. Served on a beautiful terrace. The entrance leads into a magical courtyard and ancient steps lead up to the rooms. Caterina was friendly and helpful and spoke excellent English.
Nothing
Thank Curtis for this review! We love our little courtyard in the middle of the town where plants are very happy to grow with little effort. See you some other time!

Verified reviewReally nice authentic accommodation at a very good location on Marsala. We found free parking closeby at a couple of minutes walking. The building and rooms have a lot of character. We got a free upgrade to a nice large room. Very convenient to have a small fridge in the rooms as well. The breakfast was simple but fresh with lots of fruit so a nice addition for only €5 per person per day. The host let us use the room late on our day of checkout which was very convenient as our flight was late in the evening.
The bed wasn’t the best, it was a foldout and was lacking some support. Also the pillows were very flat so not a lot of comfort. The room could also do with a bit of a refresher in terms of furnishing. The couches and carpet seemed a bit old and dusty.

Verified reviewThe bed & breakfast is conveniently located in the historic centre of Marsala and its small charming and delightful. Signora Tiziana was really very welcoming and full of local knowledge and ideas. The breakfast was fresh local produce some of which was from their land - olive oil and the most delicious marmalade. Nothing is too much trouble and when I go to Marsala again I will definitely be staying there. Thank you!
Hi Laura and thanks for this special review! It has been my pleasure to have you and your group in my place. See you some other time to talk about some more hidden gems of our area. Tiziana

Verified reviewExcellent location just two steps from the beautiful centre of Marsala, and overlooking a private courtyard, so very peaceful. We had a generously sized room on the top floor, with our own terrace, and ate breakfast with other guests round a table on a lower terrace. The breakfast was excellent with fresh fruit, yoghurt, fresh bread and cake and ample coffee. Our hosts were very helpful chatty and cheerful, and contributed to our having a very pleasant stay in Marsala. Would definitely stay here again.
I liked it all
Hi Rupert and thanks for your stay. You described our place exactly as we think we are. See you some other time. Tiziana
