How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

Verified reviewProperty is spacious, these is big balcony with beach view. Walkable to restaurants although many were closed and do not seem to open until mid June.
The Heavy wooden Toilet seat was broken and hit us on the back every time we used it (two ladies) which was very unpleasant. The balcony table was broken with a leg about to fall off making it difficult to move. Shower was somewhat dirty which was unpleasant. The door key was cracked and we couldn’t open it a few times. We were only provided with one key between two people which made it somewhat inconvenient. To enter the apartment block door you had to launch yourself at the door with all your weight to open it resulting in falling into the hallway at speed which was somewhat dangerous and unacceptable. I had to call the owner on the first night as we were locked out of the block not realising how much force we had to use to get in the door. Very disappointed that at the start of the season the apartment had broken items - this poor care and attention to detail about the comfort of guests in the apartment. No apartment information booklet in the apartment they didn’t even give us the Wi-Fi code. I had to contact the owners for the simplest things. The owners were however very keen to tell us when we would be charged extra i.e. charged €30 to check-in at 20h30. Also if we lost (or left it in the apartment) the one and only door key there was a €30 charge to be let into the apartment. Also beware you have to pay €5 a day to use their garage for a car so we parked on the street.

Verified reviewLocation just at the beach. Easy arrival. No problems with parking - free parking at the street nearby (beginning of May). Efficient and prompt communication with the host. Comfortable beds, separate bedroom and a sofa bed in the main room. Nice sea view terrace with big table for meals with four chairs, two deckchairs, a sunshade. Good wi-fi. Good price - quality ratio. Ideal option to stay if your budget is limited, but you would still like to explore more of Sicily (which is not cheap - travel, entrance fees,...).
The apartment is rather basic. It is attic and one needs to bend over to fit the terrace door (unless one is very short or is a kid), one also needs to bend over to use the toilet. There was also damp smell in the bathroom. Otherwise, the place is quite spacious, the building is well maintained, we felt safe, and all functions as expected.

Verified reviewThe property was spotless, spacious, and full of natural light, with patios and balconies on both sides that made it feel really open and airy. It was peaceful—you could hear the sea and watch the fishermen heading out. The air conditioning worked well, and the internet was fast—perfect for working or relaxing. The local area was quiet but charming, with friendly shops and cafés nearby. Most importantly, the host was fantastic—really helpful, friendly, and went out of his way to assist me, including arranging a taxi back to the airport. A big thank you to him.
There was nothing I didn’t like about the property itself. The only minor issue was mosquitoes, but that’s just part of the environment. Also, since it was off-season, the area was quite quiet and a few places were closed—but that also added to the peaceful vibe.

Verified reviewThe apartment is just next to the beach. Also there was no problem with parking on the street in front of the building. The market and some restaurants are very close. The view to Etna on one side and to the beach on the other side is exceptional.
The isolation between other rooms is not the best. If someone speaks very loud you can hear each word. But we didn't have any issues with that.

Verified reviewLarge apartment (we booked the one on the second floor), equipped with everything you need, a big balcony with very nice view, nice host, even sun-beds and umbrella were provided by the host in order to use them on the public beach. Also there is a private beach nearby. There are restaurants in a fee minutes walk distance and you can visit by car plenty of eastern coast towns being located here (eg. Taormina is half an hour driving)
It can be a bit noisy in the morning, because of the bell tower nearby and only few people speak english in that region and its quite difficult to have a conversation

Verified reviewThe balcony overlooking the sea.
Crumbling walls, sofa that smells and doesn't allow you to sit on it due to damage, no coffee maker, beach only with stones, paid extra for late check in, no insect nets.

Verified reviewdirectly on the beach. rooms a good size, air conditioning worked well when we needed it. Balcony great for relaxing and eating. washing machine worked well. easy check in and out. close to shop and somewhere to eat. deck chairs and umbrella for the beach. good location to explore the area.
Parking garage entrance very steep so we opted to park on the street didn't look easy to get in and out. The apartment feels it needs a little TLC, shower not very powerful (water was hot after a request to boost). shutters don't all work. kitchen is basic, no wine glasses just tumblers. no beach towels which as we flew would of been useful even if an extra charge. Pebble beach (take water shoes) and rough waves meant we didn't swim as much as we wanted to.

Verified reviewLocation was excellent although we did come very early in the season so there wasn't much open in the immediate vicinity. Iceberg cafe was excellent being so close for much needed coffee and pastries!
Everything was perfect 👌

Verified reviewThe property has an amazing view right from the balcony and living area. It was clean and had all the basics required. Easy access to the beach from within the property and there is free parking on the street. We went in March and the area was nice and quiet. Restaurants and supermarkets within close reach. The doors and windows block the outside noise.
The mattress was hard to my liking. Apart from a bed sheet there was a blanket, however it would be could to have a quilt which can easily be washed like the sheets for hygienic purposes.

Verified reviewNice apartment with THE view. Owner was nice and cooperative. Good food places on the same street. Groucery shop over the street. Bigger shop Spar is in Mascali, ab 2km away. From the Mascali you can take the bus or train to Taormina and Giardini Naxos. Be careful not to miss them in the evening or on the weekends, taxi is very expencive if you find it at all.
Apartment needs a little bit of light renovation here and there. Quite hard mattress, we used blanket to soften it. Looks like italians wake early and get to work - beach bar workers worked very early, worked, drove with tracktor ect. The apartment has good windows, didnt mind the working noises when we shut the windows.

Verified reviewThe apartment is located right at the beach. Beautiful view from the window. The apartment was very spacious. We were 4 adults and there were 2 separate bedrooms and a living room. Huge terrace. Very responsive owner. He also let us use the underground garage for free, although there’s plenty of space to park on the street. The beach was not crowded at all. In the city there are several supermarkets. The Wi-Fi is also fast enough, if you work remotely.
It would be nice to have some cooking basics, like salt, pepper oil. Also, while we were staying, there were construction works going on on the beach, but that is something that the owners cannot control.

Verified reviewThe apartment is in the high street of a small resort. It is very clean, spacious and comfortable. The view of the sea is wonderful. We stayed there in May so not many shops or restaurants were open but not far there is a great place to have breakfast.
I didn't like the blanket with a sheet solution which is usual in many countries but in my country we put the blanket into a case. It's more hygenic. In the balcony there weren't cushions on the metal chairs, they were cold to sit on.
