Absolutely brilliant service, Giuseppe picked us up from the car park and gave us loads of information about Matera on the way to the hotel. He was also kind enough to give suggestions as to the "must see" locations and beat restaurants. The room was massive for the price and with air con. The views just outside the hotel were stunning.

Staying in the cave is a great experience. The bathroom and the tub are great! The hotel is stylish in a minimalist sense. Staff is simply cheerful and helpful.

The only problem we had was the soft bed which was too slouchy. We had some back pain after 3 nights.

Stayed at Basiliani Hotel in Matera and loved the experience! The room was spacious, spotless, and beautifully designed, blending the historic charm of the Sassi with modern comfort. Location is perfect—quiet yet close to all main sights. Breakfast had tasty local options, and the staff were friendly and very helpful. Note: parking is not allowed as it’s in a restricted zone, and Google Maps may not take you directly to the reception, so it’s best to follow the hotel’s instructions. Highly recommend!

Staying in a modified cave that's thousands of years old was a very unique experience. Great space, location, views, breakfast was delicious, everything was easier than expected. Pickup at a local parking lot was perfect. Would definitely stay longer & recommend to anyone interested in visiting this place.

Room was sensational. Perfect for our family of 4. Location was good, not absolutely central but relatively easy to get around. Breakfast was a great, simple buffet, with a good choice of Puglian options, good service and great coffee

The location is great, in the sassi, adjacent to the sassi area acquired by the government and set aside to eventually be developed as a museum. So it is quiet, with gorgeous gorge views. Most helpful was the free shuttle from and to our car park, and to where our walking tour started (38 degree heat). Breakfast was good. We were in a studio mezzanine to sleep our adult kids up top, the privacy was good. We had a bath too!

At night the mezzanine level was hotter, and the kids found the AC just couldnt cut it up there.

The accommodation was nice, carved into the rock. It was clean. The breakfast was super.

We couldn’t sleep all night because when you sleep downstairs and someone is upstairs, you can hear every movement from above. It felt like someone was stomping upstairs.

The room was exceptional! So well designed and extremely comfortable. The breakfast was superb - with fresh fruit, cereals, eggs, yogurt, cheese, meats and fresh bakery goods! Plus, coffee and capuchino was available in my room. The staff - particularly Mary - helped me with pick up times on numerous occasions - she was effecient and extremely helpful in a stressful situation when at a last minute a tour was canceled. Also the driver - name starts with an M - sorry can;t remember - he was the ipitomy of patience - as I needed assistance with luggage and getting to tours on time. The VERY BEST place to stay in Matera - oh, an a quiet area!!!

    Nothing!
