How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.

The location was a bit too far from the city centre. But the 20 - 25 min walk each way was ok for one night.

Verified reviewVery well designed modern B&B with stylish and functional rooms. Great location to explore the center of Marsala. Easy to find parking spaces close to the place. Really nice and accommodating hosts who can give advice on the town and the island if you ask. Everything was very clean and breakfast with lots of local specialties got us to a good start of the day.

I booked a night at the place through Booking.com. No one was waiting for me at the place and I could not enter the building which was closed with an intercom door and the code details for entry were not provided. The place unjustly charged me for full use even though I did not receive and did not use the room at all - a kind of cheating for the sake of it. Requests for a refund were rejected and then stopped responding. Save your life and your money - stay away from this place!
I respond to this guest who has allowed himself to write untrue things about the structure (a bad place that is about to betray), NEVER having arrived or even introduced himself, about the check-in procedures and, as if that were not enough, using words that have offended my person, my work, and my professionalism. All messages reported are true as they were written to the guest on the Booking platform. The guest booked one night on Booking without paying anything, but providing his credit card number as a guarantee like all other guests. In the morning, a message was sent to him as is customary in our communications with guests, asking to notify us about 40 minutes before arrival. I precisely write the message from 11:22. Good morning and thank you for choosing us. I am Isabella from the Sbarco dei 1000 in Marsala. I kindly ask you to inform me of your arrival time as soon as possible and to notify me about 40 minutes before arrival at the facility. Below you will find the link on Google Maps and the photo of the entrance door, we are on the 5th floor. Thank you, regards." Obviously, we do not mention entry codes as we only use them outside our check-in hours (4-8 PM), and therefore, since we are on site, we are the ones who open and receive our guests. In fact, as soon as our guests arrive, they notify us and we normally come down to welcome them and go up together to the property. In any case, you can always ring the intercom, but I repeat that it is usually not necessary. At 4:41 PM without notifying his arrival, this guest writes that the name of the property is not on the intercom (which is obviously untrue) as they could not find where to ring, and in an arbitrary and impolite manner, I would even say angrily, he decides to cancel the reservation and leave and request a refund of the amount paid... What amount?? He had not paid anything yet!!! Several messages were repeatedly sent to this guest stating that we were on site and waiting for him. The next day, he did not show up, so we proceeded with the charge. I would like to point out to the readers of this response that the messages reported by me are those written on the Booking platform and not messages sent through other channels... therefore truthful. I would say that this guest, rather than writing save your life and your money should have first written about saving us Hosts from people like him, demonstrating that the only thing he knew how to do was write a review dictated by anger and not by reason.
