How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

Verified reviewA cute little hotel in the heart of Alghero! Location was great around 10 minute walk into the old town, shops and cafes near by and free parking was easy to find near the B&B. Raffaele was a very welcoming host he helped us carry the luggage up and offered some good bars to try out during our stay he was kind, friendly and very helpful. The room was cosy, stylish and clean, it had all the essentials! Loved the little balcony too! Breakfast had simple but lovely selections of pastries, fruit yogurt, fresh fruit, cured meats and cheese and a coffee machine.
As lovely as the hotel is the walls were quite thin so could hear the guest next door quite loudly at times.

Verified reviewIt has a comfortable room, balcony with some sea view, decent breakfast
Parking is difficult because the property has no dedicated parking so you park in the street Room is very small Bathroom had some weird smell The house is a shared apartment with 4 rooms, small common space that you cannot use At times it is loud because it is very small so you could hear other guests very easily No elevator, at the 3rd floor
Dear Mihai, Thank you for taking the time to leave a review. I usually don’t respond publicly to either positive or critical feedback, but some of your comments truly surprised me. The room assigned to you is of standard size, as clearly indicated in the listing on Booking.com, where it's also specified that the accommodation is a guest house — consisting of private rooms with en-suite bathrooms and a shared breakfast area. All services and amenities are described transparently, and the photos shown reflect the actual conditions of the property. There is no mention of an elevator or private parking, but it is stated that free street parking is available — which you successfully used. In town, private parking is rare and often quite expensive. As for cleanliness, I manage the guest house personally and take great care of all aspects, including cleaning and sanitizing, which I carry out myself. Daily cleaning is included in the rate, but during your stay, I was unable to perform it as you chose to remain in the room. We saw each other several times and you never mentioned any issues, including the bathroom. When I asked if you needed anything, your answer was always no. Had you reported a problem, I would have been happy to resolve it. The shared area is available, although there are a few simple rules in place to ensure order and respect among guests. You were also allowed to use some kitchen items beyond breakfast hours. We kindly ask guests not to wash dishes themselves, as this often results in insufficient cleaning — a necessary precaution in a shared environment. Regarding breakfast, I place great importance on offering quality products: cold cuts, fresh fruit (including strawberries or fruit salad on some days), yogurt, Sardinian milk, juices, freshly ground espresso coffee, and, on some mornings, even warm croissants. Choosing a guest house like mine means experiencing something different from a hotel — a more intimate and personal atmosphere, with services and rates that reflect this distinction, especially during high season. I hope your stay in Alghero still left you with pleasant memories. Best regards, Raffaele – Guest House Camilla

Verified reviewVery convenient location, cosy room with a balcony and breakfast was superb. Raffaele was very attentive and helpful - highly recommend!
The room was a little bit small but it was fine for what we needed just to rest our heads and having a balcony was a lovely addition to sit outside on the warm summer evenings.

Verified reviewThe room was good, clean, with a balcony. Location is very good, not far away to go for a walk in the city. Breakfast simple, but good.
The isolation of the walls - you can hear the neighbours. And our room's entrance was from the kitchen, so if somebody is in the kitchen you can hear easily.

Verified reviewLocation was central. Breakfast was well thought out. Raffaele was responsive.
The stairs to the apartment, I think three flights, but certainly felt like four with our heavy luggage. Did not expect to be sharing the apartment with other guests, was quite crowded when we were all there.
Hello Giselle, I am surprised by reviews like this because if one just took a moment to read the provided information, they would realize that all necessary details are right there, thanks to the photos, descriptions, and reviews. It’s hard for me to understand how someone could miss the fact that this is a guesthouse and not an entire apartment, a detail clearly indicated on Booking.com where the type of accommodation is clearly specified. The lack of an elevator in most properties in Alghero, especially in neighborhoods from the 1960s, is entirely normal, and, indeed, an elevator is not listed as one of the available amenities. Choosing non-hotel accommodation, which is typically situated in a family or residential context, only to later complain, doesn’t seem very logical to me. It would be better to take two minutes to choose a property that more closely meets your expectations.
