How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

Verified reviewThe hotel is very comfortable and very convenient to the public bus line that brings you up from the train station; also very close to the heart of town also. But the best thing is their restaurant, which is prized by local citizens for its regional cuisine and excellent value. Truly delicious, with quality farm-to-table ingrediants and genrous portions, but not at tourist prices. They offer full fare and half fare options with your room, but I don't know if that gives you access to the complete menu. We ordered a la carte. Be sure to make a reservation for dinner, as the locals fill it up.
The airconditioner did not seem to have a remote. It was running too cold and we could not adjust it. We ended up turning it off and openning the window in the middle of the night.

Verified reviewIt was located in a very cute location with restaurants and shops not far. This is not a negative but, as a notice to American travelers who may not be used to this, though extremely common in Italy, the bathroom is a wet room. The toilet and shower are in the same space without glass dividers. The terrace had a beautiful view and having breakfast out there was a lovely experience. My room had a very small balcony which was a nice touch. Also, the hotel is on the complete other side of town from St. Francis Basilica but, it's a very nice walk and the incline isn't as bad as it looks. There's also a little shuttle around town that I think stops very close to the hotel.
The air conditioning was not working well and you could hear everyone outside your room talking.

Verified reviewGreat localization
Our room was on third floor, in which we get by elevator. But after reaching 3rd floor, we found that we need to use narrow stairs to get to our room. With big bag it is problematic. For older person it will be impossible.

The bed was reflective of the name..like a rock! Even though it was a memory foam of sorts, it was extremely firm.

Verified reviewThe worst thing was the music in the restaurant till 23:30, it was so noisy and intense that it felt like they are playing next to our bed, the walls are probably made out of paper because we could hear next door people talking. The room is very small and far from how it looks in the pictures… It’s very busy in the hotel, always full of some people and I really could not feel like it’s a calm place to be. The restaurant looked good and the man that works there and is the head of the restaurant ( I guess ) was super super nice to me, he was a highlight of the whole stay. The man in the reception didn’t feel very welcoming… we booked for two nights and in the end we could come only for one night. I was talking with them on the phone and emailed them as well, about this situation. Tried to cancel but because of booking policy I could not do that. So we kept two nights. And when we arrived there at 13:00 they said our room is not ready, I asked how is that possible if we paid for two nights. ( we came for a second night). The reception man said he didn’t know about that, but I was talking with a reception on the phone maybe 3 times and emailed them and they emailed me back… and as I understood it’s a family hotel, so this sounds a bit impossible. In the end of this conversation they found the room. But I really really didn’t like this attitude. So I am disappointed, I stayed with my mom and our stay was not pleasant… it’s the worst when you don’t want to come back to your hotel…

Verified reviewThe bus from the Assisi train station stops 2 minutes walk from the hotel which is otherwise in a quiet neighborhood. Breakfast was plentiful. The front desk is not manned but in some mysterious way someone showed up within a minute or two whenever we needed assistance. This is our second or third time staying here and have always been satisfied.
There was a mix up with one of our rooms that resulted in a brief delay and required relocating 3 of our party to a place next door, but it was handled promptly and without drama. The hotel is at the very top of the hill so if you don't like to walk uphill you may get more exercise than you want, but then again, it is Assisi: everywhere you go requires a bit of a climb, it is part of the charm of this very special place.
