How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

Verified reviewLovely hotel in a beautiful location. Loved the town of Vico and will definitely return. Hotel was in a very good spot with stunning views. We ate there one night and the food was lovely. Breakfast was good too.
Drinks service at the pool could have been better. Most of the time we struggled to get the attention of or even see the waiter, he wasn’t very visible at the pool. This is only a minor quibble however.

Verified reviewThe room was nice and clean and was cleaned daily with fresh towels, our room also came with a large balcony. The pool area is great , plenty of space and access to the bar and pool towels if needed. The staff were very friendly and helpful throughout our stay . We also ate at the hotel restaurant which has a very nice view of the coast. The hotel is also in a great central location near the train station for travelling to Sorrento / Naples etc, so you have access into Sorrento for dinner etc .
Nothing :)

Verified reviewHotel Aequa went above and beyond to welcome our family! The hospitality is exceptional, the staff was kind and welcoming! A special thankyou to Agostino and Giacomo who were outstanding in their hospitality! Agostino e Giacomo grazie per la pazienza con il mio Italiano!!! The view from the hotel is breathtaking!! We will absolutely be back. Vico Equense is a charming and lovely town, everything we could have wanted was within walking distance. I highly recommend the hotel!! 5 stars!!

Verified reviewNot much, nice location that'd about it.
Small room, tiny balcony impractical for use. The Seaview was at best a side sea view and then you had to lean out. The car park was a dirty basement with no proper bays and cars abandoned where they stopped. The whole place smelt musty and damp, the room was dirty as were the public areas, breakfsst was dumped on a table in a room thst reminded me of a works canteen. We stayed one of our three nights, requested a refund of the two remaining nights, which was refused. This is not a 4 star hotel in my opinion.we stayed at 7 hotels so far on this trip and this is the only negative review.

Verified reviewThe pool was excellent , all of the staff and in particular Roberto were so helpful and generous. The hotel is spotlessly clean and the food was excellent. The location in the centre of the town was perfect as were the views.
There could have been more variety at breakfast even though what was served was excellent. The rooms were quite basic but comfortable and immaculately clean.

Verified reviewThe room was simple but enough, the view and cleanliness more than made up for anything you may feel the room lacked. However, we loved the simplicity - relaxing and quaint, just what we were looking for. The location was perfect, close to the station but also all the amenities and restaurants of town. Vico was full of locals and not over crowded with tourists, but it was so easy to reach the more touristy spots; sorrento, Amalfi, positano, and pompeii. We would stay again and highly recommend it for families or couples alike. The staff were brilliant, the pool was big with plenty of chairs and the views were just stunning.
There honestly wasn’t anything that we didn’t like.

Verified reviewNice clean and close to main town
Pool opens at 9.30 but pool attendant was putting towels on beds before it opened. When asked he said they had paid extra to reserve favourite spot . I personally think it was for locals . Disappointed as I got no response to me asking why this was the case when I emailed the hotel.

Verified reviewAequa Hotel exceeded our expectations as our rooms were much nicer than in the photos. The shady gardens were lovely to relax in during siesta time and while we didn't use the pool it was a great area, especially for those with children. Breakfast was tasty with a good selection of food and the view from the restaurant was spectacular. Staff were helpful and friendly. It was an easy walk to the town square and the bus and train station. It was only a short train ride to Pompeii and Sorrento.
We chose to stay at Vico Equense because it would be quieter than Sorrento however the location was probably a bit too quiet for us especially with older teenagers. We didn't manage to eat at the hotel restaurant due to functions that were being held during our stay which was disappointing. We were not told in advance what nights the restaurant would be closed. The functions could be a bit noisy but finished early enough not to disturb our sleep. We stayed for 4 nights and there were 2 functions during our stay.

Verified reviewThe garden with the swimming pool is the main asset. Really wonderful and taken care of. Rooms were clean. Terrace with Vesuvius views.
The hotel needs refurbishment. The interiors are cca 20 years old, the corridors 40 years, and the garage looks like street in Napoli. They refurbed only the reception space. The gardeners wake you up at 8am with noisy gasoline leaf blowers, and they do this for a whole hour even through breakfast. If you like to swim before the breakfast, you cant. Pool opens at 9.30AM, the gardeners are doing the noisy stuff from 8AM and you are allowed only after them. If you come late from a trip, you can neither - the pool is locked from 7PM. The breakfast was poor but they serve amazing coffees.

Verified reviewExcellent location on the main street. Very close to bars and restaurants. The pool was fantastic and never too overcrowded.
The only thing was you can't not pay for drinks and food until you are checking out so it is hard to keep track of how much you owe

Verified reviewGreat location, very close to the train station, short walk. The hotel was very well kept and clean. Nice pool, very clean, and a good size. We did arrive on a busy pool day and had to wait to get sunbeds. The restaurant was good, we ate one night as there are so many restaurants to choose from in the area. The views from the hotel are fantastic so do try and get a sea view when booking.
There were some issues with people putting towls out on the beds early,

Verified reviewLocation is great. Can walk to all kinds of shops and restaurants. Train and bus station only few mins walk too. Staff are friendly and polite. Good selection at breakfast. Views from room were amazing.
Lack of local and hotel information available. Rooms and bathroom are not what I would rate as 4* however, communal areas are better maintained. Lack of sunbeds due to residents occupying beds with towels all day only to sit for one hour by poolside.

Verified reviewLocation was lovely, apart from the mix up with our room on check in paid for a sea view but was not given one initialy, but this was corrected quickly.
The breakfast was very poor, and put us off eating in the hotel restaurant. Juices were watered down, pastries were are cooked from frozen no taste. The worst breakfast in the six hotels we stayed in whilst touring Italy.
