How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

Verified reviewSimply incredible. One of the best experience we had in Iceland. The tent is phenomenally thought, designed and built, very evocative, very comfortable, very unique. Worth to spend much more than one night like we did. The shared bathroom is beautiful and perfectly clean. Breakfast was rich, balanced and absolutely tasty. The host was very kind. We will surely come back again! Thank you!

Verified reviewMy sister and I stayed here the night before hitting the Golden Circle and it was a lot of fun! The yurt is comfortable and well heated and we appreciated that they had hot cocoa. The shared bathroom was clean and easy to use. The breakfast in the morning was one of our best the whole trip. The owner was great and communicated well. It was a great location to just wake up and head straight to the places around the golden circle.
Just be aware that there are time limitations—if you have to arrive after 10 pm or leave before 7 am the owners can’t accommodate that. For us that wasn’t an issue so it worked out great.

Verified reviewSoooo gorgeous! Beautiful design, amazing hand drawn notes, and the decorating of the yurt was adorable! We had a great conversation with our host Rick when we arrived and met his lovely partner Jitka the next morning when she brought us a delicious breakfast of home baked rolls, fruits, eggs and juice. The bathroom had everything and also kept the woodsy, outdoor theme from the "wooden" vessel sink to the galvanized stock tank converted to a sweet shower!! Adorable!! The hanging bed was perfect and we both slept fantastically!
Everything was perfect!

Verified reviewThe place is very romantic, unique and neatly organized.
For the payment, the host asked our credit card details including the security number, he did not use a terminal. This was very unusual, he did not provide another option (e.g. payment through a QR code, which he declined). This made us very uncomfortable.

Verified reviewUnique stay experience, while it was cloudy when we were there it seemed ideal for northern lights viewing. Wish we could’ve stayed longer, this had everything we needed from coffee and tea to little snacks. Bathroom was very clean. The place seemed very intentionally designed and would recommend. Clear instructions for navigation even in the dark.

Verified reviewA very cosy place to stay. It looks amazing and they're giving a lot of attention to details. Even there was a shared bath room, it looked amazing. Vintage bath tube with shower. Just perfect. Bed was very comfortable and it was very warm. I was not freezing one single second. Really loved the stay and it would have been nice to be there longer.
There was really nothing to complain.

Verified reviewValhalla Yurts was a really lovely and unique accommodation for a reasonable price. Items offered for breakfast was generous and the whole place was super cozy and fun. The owners are super friendly and helpful as well!
There are a lot of house rules to follow which will work fine for adult couples and solo travelers but there are several types of travelers which won't be allowed to stay.

Verified reviewWe really loved our stay. The attention to details was incredible. Usually when the breakfast is offered, it can be quite disappointing but the breakfast here was amazing. The bed was very comfortable, the host was friendly and the experience was truly one of a kind. We also enjoyed the location as it is very close the the golden circle attractions. I would love to come back and watch the aurora borealis through the yurt's ceiling.
Before getting there I was worried about 2 things : 1 - the temperature inside the yurt : Iceland is quite cold and I was worried we would be freezing during the night. Turns out it wasn't an issue at all. There was a AC/heating unit inside the yurt that did an amazing job. There was also a fireplace and what looked like heated blanket, both of which were not needed as we stayed there during the month of June. The temperature was very comfortable and the host also made sure to check if we were OK. 2 - the bathroom situation : now, you cannot expect the Ritz-Carlton experience for the bathroom. It is quite "rustic". However, it was incredibly clean and overall a lot better than I could have expected. All and all, we had an amazing experience. There is nothing I can think of that was a letdown. I would recommend this place in a heartbeat.

Verified reviewThe most unique and wonderful stay that we had in Iceland! We stayed for 1 night and had real luck that it was available. The yurt is mega cozy, romantic, warm and comfortable. It has everything you might need (contrary to one might think when you see a "tent"). The hosts live nearby and are so welcoming and kind, we're ever so grateful. An absolute must-visit for couples!
It is a bit tricky to find as Google Maps don't lear you there, but the hosts provide a detailed map with step-by-step instructions. The bath/WC is outside (obviously). Be careful when entering the bathtub as the curtain is not that stable (I'm so sorry for breaking it 🫢🙈), but the host repaired it in an instant. 😊
