Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

ItalyWe loved the atmosphere and the organization of the place: thanks to the door separating the well equipped kitchen from the rooms, you can cook at any time. Dorm with curtains for privacy. Assigned beds at check-in, so even in case of late arrival you go straight to your bed, no need to look for a free one

ItalyOur room was close to the restaurant and during our stay there was an event and we couldn’t help listening to the performance until the end, while we’d rather sleep instead. Maybe it could have been nice for guests who appreciate live performances at late evenings. Moreover a group of other guest talked loudly in the common area until late at night,
The common are was wide and nice

United StatesDecent value given the location - in Egilsstadir. The beds were comfy. You have to be creative in rooms for your luggage and belongings since there is no space or closets. (We lucked out with a room with 6 beds so we used an empty bed for all of our luggage and etc. Not sure where we could have put our stuff otherwise...) \ The shared showers, toilets and kitchen were clean enough for a one-night stay. Check-in was easy.

SingaporeMay be a little short-handed in staff as there was no one around when we wanted to check in. Soundproofing in the rooms can be improved as we could hear noise in the neighbouring rooms and common area. Kitchen is quite small for the number of guests staying at the hostel.
Bathrooms and showers were very clean and exceeded expectations. The place felt very homely with ample entertainment like board games and guitar. Beds were good and comfortable, blankets were nice and warm. Grocery store is a short walk away.

United KingdomIt's a hostel, you're not expecting miracles. The kitchen was a bit of an assortment of cutlery and crockery, but it was all perfectly usable.
Beds were really comfy and the kitchen had sufficient facilities for cooking a basic meal. Check in and check out were really straightforward. The café/bar attached to the hostel was nice to have, especially with the happy hour and the ability to order food if you don't want to cook. Everything was really clean and the place was really easy to find. Made for a good one night stopover on our way north.

Luxembourg+ The common rooms are large, except for the kitchen. There are several showers and toilets. + There's a very large lounge with plenty of things to pass the time, including books, board games, chess and even colouring books for adults and children, as well as a few toys for the little ones. - There's a fully-equipped kitchen and they've added a sort of small kitchen in a corridor, but without a fridge. So there's just one fridge for all the visitors. When we arrived there were a lot of young people and so the fridge was completely full so we had to leave our groceries in the car.

GermanyIn my dorm there was just one window (not too big) at the end of the room. I had to open it all night because no one of the other guests (or the staff before arrival?) came up with the idea of ventilation. So the air in the bedchamber was pretty stifling and grumpy, which became better whilst opening the window the entire night time.
The hostel is a good option to stay in the area and don't spend that much money for your holidays. Check in was easy. The kitchen isn't too big when it gets crowded, but you can take turns with other people cooking there. Bathrooms and toilets have enough space and were very clean.

UkraineThere are two more bunk beds in the double room which is weird and makes it really crammed. No space for your personal belongings. Nothing worked because it wasn't a touristic season.
The place is big and must be crowded during travelling season. We were almost the only people in the hostel plus one girl.
