Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United StatesRoom was small but it was ok as it was just me. Entrance not level with street.
I was able to keep my bicycle inside. Room was close to the entrance, kitchen and bathroom. Everything was clean. Less expensive than other places and I was able to get 4 nights in a row so didn’t have to move.

United StatesThe shower on the basement floor really needs to be replaced. They can't help loud guests but the front door was heavy and constantly slammed shut which normally would be fine but it was so loud that the noise carried down to the basement and all the way down the hallway. Would be great if they would install a door closer or something else to help slow the door's closing speed and dampen the impact, reducing the noise.
Location was great and they are renovating the outside. Staff was friendly and helpful, even willing to assist with our laundry to make sure it got done.

United StatesIn the studio: the washing machine is inoperable. There was no mirror anywhere (asked and recieved one the next day). No shower curtain. No black out curtain for the bedroom to sleep. The matress on the floor - a simple bed box would be nice for hygenics. The 3 bd hostel- no option to turn down the heater. Window wasnt sufficient to cool down. Only 1 toilet and 1 shower for everyone in the building. Need at least 1 more.
Loved the location, ease of check in, cleanliness, and the front desk staff.

CanadaWe were promised a room with a large double bed, but were assigned a small, narrow room with 3 single beds. Barely room to move between two of them.

CanadaIt was a little tricky checking in after arriving fairly early in the day. There is a buzzer and someone will eventually come and help you but there is no obvious reception. However, we very much appreciated being able to check in well before the official check in time.
The kitchen was small but functional. We were able to cook meals in the kitchen as long as we were there on off peak times. The fridge is a little crowded but we were always able to find space for our food. The laundry was very useful and easy to use. The beds were comfortable and the pillows were great. Nice and clean bedding and towel. Not a lot of bathrooms or showers but eventually you could get in. There was always the option of using one on another floor. Other guests are often out for the day so the place is fairly quiet. Great location on a quieter street just off the Main Street. We were able to walk to everything.

IcelandIt would be nice to add a blow dryer to the studio.
We stayed in a studio apartment on the top floor. It's rather small but equipped with almost all essentials for a short stay. The bedding is old but clean; the bed is comfortable.

United KingdomCould be so much better with a few tweaks. We had a studio which was fine although no settee as on photos of studios on website. Kitchen poorly equipped. No sharp knife, no bowls, minimum equipment. Had to take crockery from the shared kitchen. Shared kitchen not clean and poorly stocked. With a bit more love, could have better rating especially as price more expensive than other places we stayed in Iceland.
Location. Nice building. Very traditional. Good late check out.

NetherlandsNot the best price-value ratio in town, I think you can find better in Isafjordur on the budget scale. However, perfectly serviceable if other options are fully booked. The bathrooms and showers are still the same after many visit, the sliding doors even catch and stick in exactly the same old place. In some sense, it feels like an old home you return to once in a while.
I have stayed here several times, generally okay if other options are full. Old house that is spacious and homey and comfortable. There is a great cafe (Husid) on the opposite side of the street, and the hostel is located close to a road intersection with the gas station.

New ZealandIt was a Guesthouse. It was not luxurious but that did not matter. We were warm. All fine.
Central location. We got what we paid for. We were mother and son traveling cheaply. We could cook our food. The bathroom (shared) was clean and a short distance from the room. Being on the first floor made life easy for me. Free parking outside was good. The host was friendly and close to hand.

United StatesGiven the amount of traffic, you will probably need to wait to use the bathroom, and it also makes the shared facilities (bathroom, kitchen and living room) difficult to keep clean. I think that's to be expected with a property like this.
My family of five (two 8yr olds and a 5yr old) stayed here in August 2024. We stayed in a large room with 7 twin beds, which was very functional for us. The property is a hostel, and it seemed very well trafficked while we were there.
