Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

CanadaI think eight people per dorm is a bit excessive. (snoring, only one bathroom)
I appreciated the clean bedding; I found the other seven young women in the dorm quite pleasant. The location was central to the city's shops and restaurants. The staff were helpful and friendly.

PortugalOn the downside, the bed was not very comfortable. Prices are quite high and feel exaggerated for what is offered, but that seems to be the standard in Iceland.
The hostel itself met our expectations. It provides all the necessary utensils for cooking and eating, has a good vibe, and is very well located. Parking is available in zone P3, not too far away. Overall, I think it’s a good option to spend the night.

United KingdomToo many for so small kitchen, not enough space in the fridge to put the food and too noisy. It was impossible to park anywhere around, so we had to park 15 minutes away from the hostel (walking).
Location is right in the center and there are many bars, souvenir shops and restaurants The bar on the 4th floor was nice

United StatesI don’t like that the lobby closed at 11, but the kitchen remained open which makes up for it.
This hostel is in the perfect location and walkable to any major bus stops and landmarks in the city. The facilities were clean and well kept and everyone staying there was extremely considerate and respectful.

AustraliaExcellent location, right in the heart of Reykjavik city centre with lively and positive vibes. The hostel rooms are spacious, giving you a sense of personal space and I found the other guests were respectful, despite it being common for them to leave at early hours of the morning. The bathrooms and facilities were clean and there were signs clearly explaining correct use and proper ways to recycle, with a focus on being environmentally conscious. Excellent value for money for what is considered an expensive destination.

IndiaThe room is not well maintained and the washroom is also not that clean and hygienic. In one room 4 people is enough. I think instead of 8 they should start 4 with the same price businesses will grow more.

GreeceThe beds are way too small and offer no privacy whatsoever. The matresses need to be changed. It is way too overpriced for what it offers. The ventilation system should be improved, as the room did not smell good.
The location of the hostel is fantastic, right in the heart of town within walking distance of sites and bus stops. The roof top bar is cute and organizes lots of events. The in suite bathroom was good and the room is spacious.

United KingdomThe hostel was friendly, warm and decorated really nicely. The cafe at the top was excellent with very reasonable prices for Iceland. Bed was comfortable and the facilities were kept clean. There were stations where other guests can leave items to be used by others - this is a good idea and helpful for me when I needed a warm hat.

PolandTowels were not included in price, so arrange it earlier if you arrive late as the reception closes at 23:00. Because of the central location it was very loud at weekend night, even with ear plugs. Not much space to the ceiling for top beds.
A bit more expensive than others, but great hostel. Self check-in makes life easier, though probably not too safe if people share codes. Your bed is assigned from the beginning, might be a good idea to write your preference in the comments while booking. There's a rooftop bar with affordable prices. I didn't have opportunity to use the kitchen, but there was a lot of food left by previous guests which you could use for free. The rooms are dark, and there's a shower/toilet inside the female room for 8 people. Great location.

PolandAll good.
Compared to the other hostels where they have 12 or more beds, in here every room has 6 beds which was nice. Power socket above the head was handy. There's a common kitchen on the top floor which is open 24x7 where we can eat, cook and store our foods. Plus rooftops to drink, to smoke etc.
