How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

Verified reviewThe location was convenient with a grocery store and food options nearby.
When we booked, we specifically asked about laundry facilities and were told that we could do laundry. When we checked in, we were told that there were no laundry facilities available but that laundry could possibly be done for us in the morning. Unfortunately, that did not work for our schedule as we had to leave early the next morning. Had Hotel Laxnes been more clear about their laundry facilities and services, we would have been able to plan accordingly. Also, the rooms were not that clean. The floors in the rooms felt sticky and there was an enormous spider on the floor of one room.
Good you liked the location Victoria and we are sorry about some misunderstanding regarding laundry service, we will express to our staff to be very clear on arrival with guest if possible option

Verified reviewPosition is ok being close to the capital. Staff was nice and helpful
Room was too warm and the temperature couldn't be adjusted. Breakfast was nothing special Price is too high for the facilities
Hi Danilo, thank you for your review. We´re pleased you enjoyed our location and staff. The temperature of the studios could be adjusted we have a central heating system. Did you ask the reception about this? In the summer the prices are higher in general throughout Iceland. Our breakfast is a standard Icelandic continental buffet.

Verified reviewA good place to stay overnight, close to Golden circle and Reykjavik as well. There is a bar, which is nice, if you are in a mood for it, but attracts some noisy guests.
Thank you Mara for your review. Yes it is a great start for the Golden Circle and Reykjavik. The Snæfellsnes peninsula and the south coast tour are also great one-day tours from the hotel as self drive or with a tour provider.

Verified reviewGreat hotel on the edge of Reykjavik. Nice large room for 3; with the best beds we encountered on our 12 night trip through Iceland. Nice reception/bar with a huuuuggee tv screen with scenics from Iceland (or football games). Friendly people, great breakfast.
Thank you Ronald, we're so pleased you slept well and enjoyed your stay with us!

Verified reviewThe room size is okay. The hotel's surroundings are good, with many options for supermarkets and places to eat.
The breakfast was really poor, with very little variety. The breakfast area felt like an English pub, creating a strange and somewhat unpleasant atmosphere. At check-in, I had a terrible experience with one staff member who seemed genuinely unhappy and was completely unfriendly, which made me feel uncomfortable arriving at the hotel. Later, other staff members were friendly and somewhat made up for it, but the first impression had already been made. The parking situation is also bad; when we returned from an evening outing, there were no available spots. It seems people coming to the restaurant (or pub?) use the guests’ parking spaces, and even if they were all guests, how can the parking not be enough for everyone? I had to “improvise” a parking spot and was lucky not to have any issues.
Hi Eduardo, thank you for your review, we truly appreciate hearing from our guests. I am sorry to hear of your uncomfortable checkin process. We appreciate all our guests staying at the hotel and we hope we convey that in our interactions. We are also human. Parking spaces, we have enough for both the hotel and bar guests. We have never had a problem. Our shared spaces for breakfast and our bar is versatile. We have very positive responses for the look of it like an English pub. It is obviously not everyone's taste. Do make sure to keep the space clean and welcoming for all our guests.

Verified reviewWe liked the room size of the twin room with ensuite bathroom. Mini fridge was a plus. Friendly staff and good breakfast. Location on our way back to Reykjavík was perfect for us. Free parking. Clean, quiet with a view from the bedroom. Good wifi signal. Bar on site.
Expensive breakfast (the day before, it was quoted 15€ but on D-day, il was invoice 22€). Limited parking space when hôtel is fully booked.
Our breakfast is kr.2.800. At todays exchange that comes to Eur19.58, I am not sure why you were invoice Eur22. Could it be card charges? I would be curious to know where you see it for Eur15? We have enough parking for all guests. In the summer we have many guests with self drive. There is also parking available next door and across the road (all free options) if needed, but is not necessary.

Verified reviewNice, spacious room located close to a variety of restaurants, fast-food spots, and supermarkets. Conveniently near the highway exit, but surprisingly quiet. Parking is available right in front of the rooms—very practical. 📦 Accessibility notes If you're traveling with large suitcases, consider requesting a ground-floor room, as there's no lift. 🧳 Room amenities There’s no hairdryer provided, but the kettle and mini fridge make it quite handy for short stays.
Lock of hair dryer and need to move my suitcases by stairs.
Thank you AliceOrange for kind review we do appreciate, we give hair dryer at reception and we assist with luggage when on 1st floor, most rooms are on ground floor

Verified reviewI liked self check-in possibility. Also I've got very quick answer from owner, about check-in instructions, by phone and via booking.com. Price was very good, especially comparing to other Iceland hotels, good breakfast was included as a present. Room spacious, beds comfortable, all clean. There was kettle in the room and some tea and coffee bags, nice. There are KFC and BONUS store nearby. Recommend this hotel!

Verified reviewThe cheapest room for a family around Reykjavik at the time.
Someone was impatient and didn't wait for the towels to dry. Then someone put those wet towels on the dry bed soaking the duvets in all the beds.
Very sorry to hear that towels not completly dry, we would have given you dry towel asap when informed on premises - do hope you had a good sleep

Verified reviewThe location is very convenient and this is why we stayed there one night to travel to the next place we wanted to be at. They are nicely flexible with check in time and the staff is very friendly. Facilities have an interesting atmosphere about them, but they were very clean. Ideally located near a supermarket and the main roads.
Great for 1 night, but I would prefer a bit higher ceilings (the top floor required me to mind my head as a dutch guy) and more easily openable windows. Hallways were a bit creepy (in a funny non-threatening way).
Thank you Bram for kind review, we do agree with convenient location! Close to nature, close to city and close to supermarkets and restaurants! Please advice us next time about your hight and we give you room on ground floor and quite funny you find the hallway bit creepy .... haha,... quirki we have heard before but not creepy ...., interesting though!

Road noise
Thank you Evan for taking time to give us feedback - regarding road noise, some hear it and some do not! As we are close to road 1, there is traffic and when there is rain we hear more and when no rain; we almost do not notice!
