This isn't really a reflection of the hotel per se, but our dinner seemed overpriced. It was delicious, but it was much more than we are used to paying at home and abroad.

What a gorgeous, elegant hotel! The staff was wonderful - so helpful and warm - at check-in and at our meals.The rooms were really nice and the views of Mývatn were beautiful. The roofs were planted with grass which was a lovely, traditional touch. The food was excellent, both dinner and breakfast. The location was perfect for every Mývatn hot spot. This was our favorite hotel in Iceland.

Very good location for exploring Myvattan area. Modern hotel with comfortable and good sized rooms. We had a very pleasant dinner and an excellent breakfast. Staff very pleasant.

Loved the location & look of the hotel. The room was great. Beds were very comfy. And shower was terrific. We spent 2 nights & could have stayed longer. It's decorated very nicely. At $211 US in May 2025 was a great value. It included breakfast buffet with great selections. Beautiful sunsets. Would stay there again.

Very basic breakfast ( white bread, scrambled eggs, beans, toasts, cereals, jam, Nutella, sweet yoghurt ). No healthy options. Surprisingly no fish or herrings are served. No facilities like hot tubs or sauna.

Great location on Lake Mývatn, clean and comfortable room, wonderful breakfast. One of the best hotels I’ve ever stayed at. We also loved the view we had from our room. We ate dinner at the hotel one night but also appreciated that there were other great options near by.

Amazing and weirdly beautiful on the outside but oh, so awesome interior! Perched on a hill top above the lake, this hotel has an amazing vibe. Best breakfast and shower/bathroom design so far in Iceland!

No fridge in the room, no kitchen or even microwave.

They can provide refrigerator if you need to store stuff. Breakfast is good. View is good. Bed is comfy. Bathroom is clean, water is good.

Loved the place very scenic. The staff was amazing too. We were running late for dinner at the hotel and the restaurant was going to close by the time we got there. The Staff managed to put away food for us on the side this way when we got to the hotel we had all the meals ready. Thank you hotel Laxa for the great hospitality and good stay!

What a wonderful hotel! We booked another hotel and changed our booking after reading the reviews posted about Laxa hotel. The best decision that we made! Such a beautiful location. Amazing views, very quiet, the best breakfast we had in Iceland. Try the herring salad - the best we ever had. Very friendly and helpful staff - special thanks to Juliette! We didn't have a chance to go for dinner; we got back after 10 pm every night while we were staying there. We hope to return and give it a try. This hotel deserves more then 3 stars!
