An amazing stay with incredible staff, stunning views, and the perfect location

I had a truly amazing stay at this hotel. The breakfast each morning offered a wide variety of options, which was perfect to grab before heading out on excursions for the day, especially with the bus stop conveniently located right next to the hotel. Having a restaurant and bar onsite was also a huge plus. It made it easy to enjoy a quick drink or have dinner after a long day of hiking without needing to go out and find another restaurant. The staff were absolutely incredible. They were friendly, welcoming, and went above and beyond to make my stay enjoyable. They helped me figure out the bus system, offered recommendations for places to visit and things to do, and even shared tips to make the most of my excursions. I ended up loving Iceland so much that I decided to extend my stay, and the staff made the entire process seamless and stress-free. The views from the hotel were breathtaking. Overlooking the marina, the water, and the surrounding mountains made every evening feel magical, especially while watching the sunset. The rooms were spacious, spotless, and had everything I needed. The beds were cozy, the showers had great water pressure, and the blackout curtains were a lifesaver given how much daylight Iceland gets in the summer. I also appreciated the comfortable common areas in the lobby. While I didn’t need to use the larger spaces for gatherings, it was nice to have a welcoming spot to relax for a few minutes after breakfast while waiting for my excursion bus. The location was excellent as well. Being right on the marina felt special, but the hotel is also just a short walk from the city center—close enough to explore easily, but far enough away that it remained quiet and peaceful. As a solo traveler, I also felt completely safe throughout my stay. Overall, this hotel exceeded my expectations in every way. My experience was so positive that I’ve already recommended it to my family, and I plan to stay here again on my next trip to Iceland!

Great location near the city center, but the hotel would benefit from offering a paid early check-in

The hotel is well-located, just minutes from the city center, which makes it very convenient for exploring the area. However, based on my experience and observation, I would recommend that the hotel consider introducing a system to better accommodate guests who arrive several hours before the standard check-in time of 15:00. Many travelers, myself included, arrive tired after long journeys and would greatly appreciate the option to access a room earlier—even if it comes at an additional cost. Offering an early check-in option, perhaps for a fee, would significantly improve the guest experience and demonstrate greater hospitality and flexibility.

the entry to the hotel is a little bemusing. The front of the hotel is on a main road and taxis cannot stop there. Entry is from a back street that is very narrow.

    all O.K.

We had a great stop-over stay at this comfy and eclectic hotel!

We took the bus in from the airport, and we had to walk around a bit to find the front door of the hotel, because it is not on the busy street side of the hotel (where the bus stop was). So we did a little bit more walking - but it was well worth it when we found the entrance.

What a cool place to stay! In addition to the great "family" room we stayed in, the hotel has all of these bonus room where you can hang out with your group - including a "library", a great room for playing cards, and one with a fireplace! The front desk folks went above and beyond - they were super helpful and fun to chat with.

Modern, clean, large rooms, excellent bathroom. Lovely view. I especially liked the massive availability of communal lounge spaces. We arrived early and were encouraged to relax and wait in their living room. Good location for centre of Reyk. Parker for free in “whale watching car park” (mind the holes) for a good 48 hours without thinking about it.

The restaurant menu could be better. I ate there only one, it took too long to serve and I didn’t find the menu to have any variety compared to what you find just outside.

The location and the staff. The location is perfect, close to everything you need. The staff is very helpful, especially Marta was incredibly amazing and so helpful she made our stay very mémorable and she had the best and honest advice and really took her time to explain. She is warm, smart and very knowledgeable.

Rooms were stuffy. Also, the 3rd bed was a very high bunk bed using a metal ladder. Great for kids, but not mid-60s to 70s women.

Great location. The breakfast buffet was excellent!

The price is a bit expensive for the very small room and the tiny bathroom we got. If you have to stay for several days (as it was our case), it turns out to be a significant expense. It would be great if this hotel could offer a reward program for loyalty so if you return you can access better rates or a nice upgrade to a larger room.

The old marina view from our room and the old building with so many places to stay, relax, or eat at a table surrounded by books. It is a very unique building, we love it! The coffee machine was also a marvelous addition to our room.

    Nothing! It was great.

The location was perfect- by the water, close to town, and there were plenty of quiet public spaces so that I could leave my luggage when I arrived from the US early in the morning and have a nice place to rest and wait for my room to be ready. The room was clean, comfortable, and nicely decorated and the whole hotel had a really friendly vibe to it. This was because the staff were great! Everyone at the front desk was very helpful and the cleaning staff was so friendly, too! I want to send out a special note of appreciation to Daniel at the front desk who was so patient and kindly answered all my questions. I wasn’t planning on being alone in Reykjavik and he really made me feel like I had a friend in the city! I wasn’t expecting to love this place so much, but I’ll be recommending it to everyone I know who’s going to Iceland!
