Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United KingdomThis hotel restaurant delivers an absolutely exceptional dining experience. The chef demonstrates remarkable creativity and playfulness while maintaining Michelin-level standards, crafting dishes that are both wildly innovative, locally sourced and expertly executed. Without question, this was the finest meal of our entire Icelandic journey. The hotel is beautifully decorated, creating an inviting and sophisticated atmosphere throughout. The thoughtful design choices contribute to a genuinely relaxing environment that feels both elegant and relaxing.

United StatesHotel Husafell met and then exceeded my expectations in every way.
The hotel is impeccably run, with great staff, services, and facilities. Unique and creative foods to taste at the on-site restaurant. I was also impressed with the available activities in the:area. Perfect for my three day stay there. The surrounding area is absolutely beautiful with great views of the glacier, and it was different from the landscape around the golden triangle.

United KingdomThe opening times could be a bit longer. For example, the pool opens at 10 am and closes at 8 pm while it is sunny and light until midnight. The Bistro also closes at 8 pm, so you need to plan your day well.
Amazing location, food and staff. Thank you Szilvia to make our stay more comfortable.

United StatesMy daughter left her swimming suit in the shower but they did not find it. Also, we booked the Ice Cave tour through the Husafell hotel website. When we arrived at the activity centre to get on the bus, they couldn’t find our booking and the driver, Atilla, wouldn’t let us on the bus. He said there was no space. It turned out that there was space on the bus and we could have gone up to base camp and sorted out our ticket. We were traveling in a group so our group went ahead. We agreed to go on a later time and so missed our activities with our group in the afternoon. The Ice Cave was one of the reasons we came to Iceland so was disappointing to have had that experience.
Nice, clean hotel near activity centre for Ice Cave.

United KingdomOnly complain was the coffee at breakfast wasn’t very good. Also would be great if they considered putting a nespresso machine in the room or something similar as a lot of hotels did have this and I think it would match the level the hotel is at. Otherwise pretty perfect!
What a lovely surprise this hotel was. We stayed for two nights not knowing what to expect thinking it might be a bit corporate. The staff were all very warm, helpful and welcoming. The rooms very comfortable with everything you need. Access to the pools amazing! The food…… beautiful in every way. Well done to the chef. The area although remote is perfect for hikers. You could stay there for a week and hike a different trail. Can’t wait to go back to this hotel when we next visit Iceland.

United KingdomHeating in our room seemed to be very slow to adjust to changes either up or down. Swimming pool opening times very limited and hadn’t appreciated that there were pools there - don’t recall seeing much of any info on booking.com.
Beautiful location, lovely hotel with a fantastic restaurant and great activities on the doorstep. We would highly recommend Into the Glacier and the Canyon Baths. Both are really special experiences.

CanadaHotel Húsafell is a hidden gem in the middle of nowhere—peaceful and scenic. The beds were super comfortable, and the buffet breakfast hit the spot. Dinner was the real standout: amazing food, great chef, and excellent service. Paula especially made the experience memorable. Highly recommend!

United KingdomThis hotel advertises itself on being a prime location for spotting the Northern Lights and it's really well set up for that, with all-night instant alerts (your room phone will ring 3 times if the aurora is visible) and they'll turn off some outside lights to help aid visibility. The only thing you need to worry about is if there are clouds, and keeping warm enough!! The hotel is also perfect for exploring some of the unique features in the region. We went on the Into the Glacier tour (highly recommended for the views from the top of the glacier, the chance to be on the glacier, and of course the chance to be underneath the ice cap). I also heard great reviews from other guests for the Canyon Bath trip. The hotel has its only geothermally heated pools, which are welcome after a day's hiking and a lovely, clean feature (the run in the cold from the warm changing room to get to the water is a standard feature and part of the fun!) The food in the restaurant was truly exquisite - didn't have a bad meal. My only slight criticism is that there aren't many places to just sit inside and chill out that aren't in high traffic areas or by open doors. It meant that, between the trips, when you have time to kill, there's no bar area to sit in (there's a bar in the restaurant but you can't really sit in there other than at meal times). It's nice that there are separate buildings on the estate you can visit such as the bistro and swimming pool entrance, but not always easy in mid winter. We only stayed 2 nights but I can't see this being somewhere you'd stay for more unless there were specific walks and trips you wanted to do to fill your days.

Great property in a unique location for exploring the glaciers and surrounding areas in Iceland. We were there in winter so didn’t get to do many walks but expect is is a good base for hikes in summer! Good spot for the northern lights too and the hotel will call to let you know if there is a chance of seeing them! Great heated outdoor pool area with hot tub and sauna as well
