Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

AustraliaA washing machine and dryer would complete this place. Carpet in room a bit dirty looking.
This place had a nice cosy feel. My room was a good size and very comfortable. I slept well here. The kitchen was a great size and well equipped. The communal seating areas were a good size and comfortable. Lots of space for guests. On street parking at the door or close by. Breakfast was down the street at Hotel Isafjordur and was extensive. A fantastic selection of food, including selections for those with dietary requirements. Shared bathrooms were enough for the number of guests and kept clean. Room had a basin and mirror. Good wifi

IcelandI did not like the instruction on booking for check in is incorrect. You still need to go the hotel to get the keys and then to the guesthouse regardless of when you arrive.
I loves that it was a beautiful old house. You can move the beds together. I like that their is a sink inside the bedroom.

United KingdomI wish it was made clear from the beginning that I had to check in at the other hotel. The description said that I didn't have to do so before a certain hour, but I certainly did.
Very nice simple, clean and quiet room. Exactly the place I needed after hiking in Hornstrandir for a week. The included breakfast at the hotel was also very good.

IcelandThe room was not like I ordered. The beds were uncomfortable, super soft which kills my back. It's an old house with a lot of noise, the floor creaks soo loud, someone started singin 'howling' outside for at least an hour as we were trying to sleep, there is a pub next to the window, probably came from there full blast. It was really hot and stuffy in the room but if the window was open the rolling blinds flapped around with so much noise and the outer curtain is mere dolly for show so we slept in full brightness so we could have some air. Breakfast in another hotel and the checkin/out. We did not know where we could park the car, there was little to no room for parking. Oh and prepare to fight for the shower and the toilet with the other residents.
Good location, fair price with the discount. Would not have paid more. Good breakfast that was included.

FinlandA bit bad airquality, but old places often has this "problem".
Everything ok! When we travel, we just need a place where to sleep, so this kind of places are the best. Very cozy, there was everything we needed to make a dinner and to have some coffee. Old but nice and clean.

IcelandA little cozier interior of the room would be great, to connect to the really nice interior of the house. Not that it bothered me a lot just a tip for making it a lot better.
Fantastic breakfast with gluten-free options and a great location. Really loved the house and the old interior, exactly what we were after.

United StatesThe guesthouse check in is at a different place, you go to a hotel not at the guesthouse itself they should give the address so you don't get confused
The breakfast was very good it was in the hotel where you checked in. They have a functioning kitchen with stove, microwave, they have tea selection, shared bathrooms, street parking.

United KingdomOnly issue 2/4 showers had issues e.g didn't drain, cracked tiles on the floor, the shower head you had to hold.
Check in was easy at Hotel Isafjordur. Kitchen was well equipped and there were plenty of tables to eat at. Location was great, close to shops and the high street. Beds were comfortable with the added bonus of a sink in the room which we loved.

United KingdomOur stay at this guesthouse was simply wonderful. The beds were comfy, the bathrooms were spotless, and the kitchen was well-equipped. Check-in was a breeze at Hotel Isafjordur and the guesthouse was a short walk from there with plenty of free parking nearby. We had breakfast at Hotel Isafjordur which was plentiful, croissants, toast, bacon, eggs, fruit, yogurt and cereal! The sink in the bedroom was a great extra touch too, we wish more of the guesthouses we stayed in had this!!

AustraliaI didn't like the bathrooms and showers down the corridor but I guess it was a guesthouse and that's why it was cheaper.
It was in the right location for our travel. The price was cheaper than a hotel. A good basic room for the money paid.
