Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

SpainPrice was too high as everywhere else in Iceland.
Breakfast was incredible, recently baked fresh bread and lots of different options for bread: cheese, jams, etc. Room was ok, comfortable bed.

ThailandBreakfast starts so late, very limited options of food. The building I stayed is nice but at first i went to the wrong building (the shared bathroom one) and the stairs are very dangerous, smallest steps ever and i slipped from second floor to first floor. Very dangerous.
Very good value. Bed is comfy. Spacious bathroom. Dinner menu is great my mom really enjoyed her fish soup.

United KingdomAll ok, but could have had a kettle or microwave.
Nice situation in a quiet village. Best aspect of the place was the swimming pool just down the road with two hot pools, a freezing plunge pool, a sauna and decent swimming pool. Friendly staff and reasonable breakfast.

FranceThe cafe/restaurant downstairs is cozy and the staff is very friendly and helpful. You enter the hotel by going to the side door, it has this old building feeling looking at the way the halls and rooms are made which I like, but it's all very clean and nice. Breakfast was very good.

United StatesThe blackout curtains could have been just a little bit longer as the sunlight did penetrate right at the floor level, but it was certainly enough blacked out to be able to sleep (in late May).
the Fisherman Guest House is in a pretty good location for visiting the lovely Dynjandi waterfall and the peaceful Westfjords - about a half hour off of the main road in a quiet town on the water. the included breakfast was very nice with quite a variety of cereals along with juices, cheeses/meats, and hard boiled eggs. There was even cod liver oil available! The staff were friendly and helpful. The room was much larger than what we usually found with guest houses in Iceland.

United KingdomResponse time on booking.com could have been better to my question about breakfast options (messaged in the afternoon, got a response before 10pm), which, if we had waited, would not have given us any time to make our own arrangements, given how shops close early and it was Easter weekend with even shorter opening hours everywhere. There was an electric plug-in heater in the bathroom, which didn't really get the space warm, particularly the floor was cold even after having the heater on throughout the night. The shower corner was quite dark, being out of direct light in a corner, and, I think, due to static electricity or whatnot, the shower curtain kept 'attacking' whilst showering. Literally just kept coming close to you making the space about half as big, so having to constantly push it back again. The water also didn't really flow away at a good rate, so had to keep flow quite low, or take frequent breaks to give it time to drain away. The sink was very small for an extremely large bathroom. It made it difficult to keep the area dry, and even fill the kettle up properly.
Free breakfast included! I didn't expect that, and it was a lovely surprise. Continental style buffet breakfast with bread and toppings, cereal, fruit, yoghurts, tea/coffee. Had some vegan options but we did finish the oat milk and seemed they didn't have any more of that. Would have been nice to have like peanut butter or something more plant-based protein-rich, but again, we didn't expect any and got fed well. The rooms were spacious, self-regulated heaters. Very good blackout curtains - absolute darkenss with bathroom door closed and both blinds drawn. Beds were comfortable with nice warm blankets. Kettle in room, some choice of black tea/coffee. Right in the centre of Suðureyri (not that the place is large anyway). Nice wide cupboard to unpack clothes/other stuff into.

LuxembourgNoise from neighbouring rooms and especially from the café/restaurant... we were staying in the room above the café/restaurant and as this is a small village it has to be the place to be. You could hear everything in the room, from the music to the banging of the front door until quite late.
The room is very spacious with blackout curtains. The bathroom has a bath. The breakfast was very complete and the staff were attentive to ensure a wide variety.
