Great location, right opposite the Hallgrímskirkja church and about a 15 minute walk away from rainbow street. We stayed here for 2 nights and since it was a weekend we could park for free opposite the building in the church parking lot. The entire house is very cozy, warm and clean. The kitchen is well equipped, the house also had a nice dining room. Our rooms were sufficiently spacious with an attached bathroom We had read from reviews that the water in the washrooms smell of sulphur and this was the case, since we already knew about it we really didn’t mind it and honestly it added to the charm of this place. The washroom was good for us but some people may find it a little small We really loved our stay here, thank you for having us !

Nothing negative. Except naming this adjacent property “Eric the Red” was confusing as we walked past another, maybe the primary, Eric the Red guest house a couple blocks away. When we selected “rooms”, we were actually selecting among several properties instead of one location. This could have caused problems if your group were larger.

The apartment was near the center, but fairly quiet. We stayed our last night out of 10 that were mostly in hostels/huts and were able to do laundry and regroup after 6 days hiking. The kitchen was compact and perfect for our needs. The host was generous with supplies like shower soap, extra food/drinks & laundry soap.

Fantastic Stay at Eric the Red Guesthouse I had a wonderful time at Eric the Red House! The room was beautifully decorated with truly authentic furniture, and both the room and the dining area were arranged with great taste 😍 The entire place was immaculately clean. The shared shower room was also a highlight—it was very large and pristine when I first used it. The kitchen had everything you could possibly need to cook and enjoy a meal. The host was very nice and responsive - he kindly allowed us to take a shower after running the marathon, even though we had already checked out of the room ☺️ Overall, a lovely, clean, and charming place to stay. I highly recommend it!

The room is very clean and spacious. It had everything you need. And I had a nice conversation with one of the staff. He is very warm and kind. I will come back next time.

It wasn't a problem for me but you should know that the bathroom is outside the room, just across the hall.

The room was very cozy, warm and comfortable - I liked the sink inside the room. The bathroom was clean and spacious. The kitchen is well equipped and the dining room great for meeting other travellers! The location is right at the center of the city. Our host realised I would have trouble getting there when I arrived late at night and took care of my transfer himself. I had a lovely stay, thank you!

The location was perfect! Right near the church and bus stop 8 which is where a lot of the tours will pick you up from. Also the hop on Hop off has a stop there. There's lots of restaurants and shops near by too. Easy to walk to lots of places

Was very pleased.

Very homey, enjoyed and coming and goings of all the folks and being with the owners. So friendly. Very close to many attractions. Really enjoyed our stay.

I wouldn’t say I didn’t like it but more as an awareness that the house has a little older feel but still homey and comfortable

Location was perfect for walking into the center to restaurants, cafes and shops and for tours. It was also about a 8 minute walk to the bus terminal which is a common dropoff/pickup spot for buses to/from the airport, the Blue and Sky lagoons and other tours. The area was quiet and bed was comfortable Bathroom seemed recently remodeled and was spacious too. Nice to chat with other guests too. Is a good place for a solo traveler if you don’t want to stay in a hostel in a bunkroom.

Extremely convenient location- close to tour bus pickup stop, as well as walking distance from bus terminal. Great communal kitchen, clean bathrooms, comfortable rooms and beds, and friendly staff. Would return here!
