How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

Verified reviewThe location was fabulous -- right on Rainbow road. Traveled as a family of 4, stayed in room 9 with a bunk bed for our 2 kiddos. Shared common area with a full kitchen, washer and dryer, sitting areas were available. The room suited our need - a place to sleep / wind down / wash - since we were out and about every day.

Verified reviewEverything we needed for a comfortable family stay in the heart of Reykjavik. The cooking facilities and thoughtful touches were a nice surprise.

Verified reviewBeds were very comfortable and the service was very good. Good sound isolation for a place right in the middle of party life, we were there on saturday for a birthday and went down town, we didnt go out for long and went to sleep while people were still out partying, you almost can't hear the party people outside.
The sink in the bathroom was very small, not possible to do anything but wash your hands. I wanted to wash my face but that was very hard.

Verified reviewLocation is excellent. Super central and yet still super quiet. The place is easy to find and well equipt. The room itself was snug for the whole family but fine for a night and useful to have the communal area.
The bunk beds are a little scary for small kids - the top bunk side is super low so we were worried our 7y.o would fall out.

Verified reviewGreat location, very clean and comfortable rooms, the common spaces had everything you needed and were a great place to unwind at the end of a long day.
It is noisy with the busy streets and bars in the area. I recommend a sound machine or ear plugs!

Verified reviewLiving room and kitchen, but who whould use this....
Bedroom was small. Had to go out every time I needed to take a breath,
Dear Martin Sorry to hear that this was your experience. This was the only room available when you booked and you could read the description where it says how many square meters it is. Who would use the shared living room and kitchen you ask. Well, just about everyone. But when people travel to Iceland they are here to enjoy the sights and the nature, go shopping, going to restaurants and bars and explore the city if they are in Reykjavik. Not to sit in their room for days being miserable

Verified reviewLocation was great! Keyless entry great - accidentally keyed in wrong a couple of times and was locked out (nice security feature) but the host was very responsive and got me back in within a minute. The giant common area was amazing although we didn’t really have a chance to use it. Would have loved to wash some clothes if I had the time. The location amazing… steps away from great food and live entertainment!
Bathroom and shower tiny!

Verified reviewThe only good thing about it was the location.
The room is way smaller than the pictures, toilets are like an airplane toilets , no reception , no cleaning , rude staff over the phone and we couldn’t use the facilities because it was booked with other rooms and no one told us or compensate us for it.
We really want all our guests to be happy with their stay and those who are not are few and far between. The room is exactly as in the pictures and it even says in the description how many square meters it is. Booking even says about the property: “Guests say the description and photos for this property are very accurate” It also says that this room has a kitchenette which it does and that there is a self service check in and no staff available 24/7. You were told that there was no cleaning of your room unless you requested it which you didn’t. The cleaning staff even asked you if they should give you fresh towels and clean your room but you declined. For the last three days of your stay you had full access to all facilities like shared kitchen and shared sitting area which had been unavailable because the whole space had been rented privately but you did not use it.

Verified reviewThe location
No elevator. The room was incredibly hot. There was no person to speak to-everything had to be done through email. I wish I had known that there was no elevator. No in room tea or coffee ability.
Dear Carol We are sorry to hear that this was your experience. Great majority of our guests are happy with their stay as you can see in other comments. If you had read the facilities description it says clearly “upper floors accessible by stairs only”. And your room was on the second floor so you only had to walk up approximately 15 steps. You were just one phone call away from speaking to the hotel staff if you needed to. If you found your room too hot (this is Iceland and we are more concerned about not being cold than being too hot) you had access to this amazing thing called a window, the size of a washing machine which you could open as wide as you have liked. There is no in room tea or coffee but literally outside your room door was a large fully equipped kitchen and dining area where you could make yourself as much tea or coffee as could drink and all free of charge.

Verified reviewThe place was nice, very clean and nice decor. While the location is very central making everything very accessible, it is not quite at all preventing a good night sleep. Perhaps it was Saturday night!
There has been loud music of a nearby club at least until 3 am often accompanied by shouts and loud voices, preventing a good sleep. Also there was no mention that there is no lift, so with a big suitcase it would have been a problem.

Verified reviewLovely central location. Really nice room. Very thoughtful staff. Kind abd easy to communicate with.
We had an alarm go off in the middle of fhe night on our first night. This was not the fault of the host and though jt was a minor inconvenience, assistance came quickly and the host very thoughtfully left a written card to apologise for the inconvenience. That level of kindness is rare and it was really nice of the hosts to give a thoughtful gesture.
Thank you so much Daragh for taking the time to leave valuable feedback and this great review. It’s very much appreciated and we hope you had a fantastic time in Iceland

Verified reviewThe apartments were spacious and stylish. The communal area had fantastic facilities including a wine fridge and balcony. Very central location.
I struggled to find the apartments and didn't recieve an email with the code to get in (it was sent via a message on the booking.com app which I didn't have roaming to check). This was about 2am and I was travelling on my own and had been approached by two men so I just wanted to get into the building safely. Luckily there was a telephone number to call and the host answered to give me the code (but no room number so I just tried the code on every room until I got the correct one). A man tried to tailgate me into the apartments and I felt very unsafe. The apartments are in a Central location but next to a late night venue so the noise kept me awake on Friday and Saturday night. The tap for the shower was stiff and the bathroom is tiny. I struggled to get my adapter plug to work in the sockets. The key pads on the doors didn't always work so took a long time to get into my room half the time.
Hello Rebecca Sorry about your inconvenience. The address is very clear both in the booking confirmation mail you got sent on the day of the booking and also in the Arrival information mail that was sent three days before your arrival. And there is a sign on the front door and also a large one in the window facing the Rainbow street. Check in information email with your access code and room number was sent two days before your arrival both to the email address provided with the booking and in the Booking app. These emails are sent automatically. In the Booking app you sent us a message about late check in when you booked your stay. We said that was no problem but you must have your access code at hand and it would be sent two days before. You never contacted anyone about not receiving the access code within that time frame. It is the guests responsibility to check their emails including the spam folder where emails like that can easily end. The keypads on the doors do always work if you push the correct keys.

Verified reviewIve been coming to Iceland for the last 2 years and have spend many nights in different hotels. And ive got to say B14 was amazing! Best quality I've had for this price range. The location is really good! Like really you cant get any more central. The beds are comfy, the space was very clean, the shower was good and all the amenities were there!
The only thing I can mention was the isolation between 2 rooms, we could hear people speaking through the wall but maybe our neighbor was just a loud talker
